Chelsea starlet to be rewarded before being loaned out

Skysports.com understands Jack Cork is poised to sign a new deal at Chelsea before being sent out on loan.

Chelsea are believed to be keen to tie down the highly-rated Cork to a new three-year deal to ward off interest from other Premier League clubs.

The 20-year-old is highly regarded by the Chelsea coaching staff and is tipped for a big future in the game having represented England at every level from Under 16 to Under 21.

Cork, who can play in defence or midfield, has enjoyed spells out on loan at Bournemouth, Sc**thorpe, Southampton and Watford in the last few seasons as Chelsea look for him to gain valuable first-team experience.

A number of Premier League clubs are believed to have sounded out a move for Cork this summer, but Chelsea are keen to keep hold of him.

However, Chelsea are open to the idea of loaning out Cork again and a host of Championship clubs are thought to be battling to land the player before the close of the transfer window

Wouldn't surprise me to see him at Reading, Brendan is a big, big fan of Cork and reckons he's ready for the PL.

Been sent to Coventry for four months. Apparently they put in a bid for him which was turned down flat. The club really do seem to think highly of the lad

Have we pulled out of the Reserves League this season?

Slobodan Rajkovic (FC Twente, loan), Jimmy Smith (Leyton Orient, free), Lee Sawyer (Southend, loan), Miroslav Stoch (FC Twente, loan), Ryan Bertrand (Reading, loan), Frank Nouble (West Ham, free) Morten Nielsen (AZ Alkmaar, free), Scott Sinclair (Wigan, loan), Patrick van Aanholt (Coventry, loan), Michael Mancienne (Wolves, loan), Shaun Cummings (West Brom, loan), Claudio Pizarro (Werder Bremen, £4.5m), Jack Cork (Coventry, loan)

i think the reserve team opponents are deemed to be very poor , so it makes sense to bring on their development in a higher grade of football

According to BBC he is off to Burnley on loan until the end of the season!

Hopefully this winds up being more fruitful for the player than Di Santo's move did. Gonna be great to see him in the prem, hope he can get a few games.

I agree....hopefully he gets some game time, looking forward to getting to watch him more.

I think its good that hes getting loaned out rather than just sitting in the ressies. Espicially now he is at Burnely, hopefully he can get some decent first team prem experience. He is unfortunate that he plays in a position where we have had some of the best in the world

From the brief highlights of the villa game he looked great, involved in the best Burnley move of the game. Also it's nice to see that he's integrated into the team in a fairly brief period, being part of good passing moves and interplay - surely a good indicator of his application and intelligence? At the very least, the commentator seemed to think that his performance had been good throughout the match, and not just in the brief glimpses that we saw. Round of applause for Jack Cork! ;)

Cheers for the link to the article. You have to wonder how to take him saying it's been frustrating. In all probability it's the journalist putting emphasis on a passing comment, by the sounds of it the Chelsea staff openly rate him so let's hope he can keep the faith and endure the 'frustration' of loans and waiting for first team action, I'm sure everyone on here will be rooting for him to make the breakthrough.

Another very good performance from him so far. Gives Burnley some options going forward and seems very comfortable on the ball

It's intresting but I'm not sure that he will return to Chelsea. His dad sayed that he is feeling very well in Burnley and he wants him to stay there.

In my opinion that would be a silly thing to do. He's shown now that he can handle being a first team player in the premier league, so why would he drop down a division?

Even if he can't push into our first team next season, there must be a few premier league teams that would like to have him on loan. And if he really wants to play elsewhere, I bet there'd be a top flight team that would buy him. He needs to play at the highest level to help him develop as a player, and sitting in the championship for a year will do him no favours.

Cork played 90 mins for Burnley yesterday in a 3 - 3 draw away at Sheffield. Burnley were unable to hold on to the lead that they achieved twice and apparently Law is not too happy with his players.

I think Cork's days as a Chelsea player are over. He stated in the summer he would probably have to leave to get regular football and the club said he could go if they were offered £2m (I think it was £2m) but no offers came in and he was loaned out again.
