Last Movie You Watched

Featured Replies

Saw Super 8 with the wife yesterday. OK movie, but they sure have dragged out that tired, famillar script that you have seen before in other movies, like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, ET, and others that I can't recall their titles right now.

I've been watching old Hitchcock films over the course of this week (Psycho, Vertigo and Rear Window) and enjoyed all three very much. These films are a classy level of 'f**ked up' which I'm not sure modern directors can really get near.

Watched shutter island. Complicated towards the end, but a superb film

I expected too much from it. Huge fan of Scorsese/DiCaprio collaboration but it left me cold compared to brilliant Departed and Gangs of NY. Have to watch it again soon though.

Last movie you watched is the topic so at the moment it is the critically acclaimed Police Academy 2 :JC_doubleup:

I was so dissapointed to find that DiCaprio was actually mental I thought there would be another twist. What I liked is you were never sure what was going to happen in the film. Gangs of New York is a great film but very long. DiCaprio must like them ones. Titanic etc

Watched two films yesterday.

American Psycho. Decent film, but the book is FAR better, explained much better.

The Joneses. Bit of a romcom, but it had a bit of an edge to it which I really liked. A story of Keeping up with the Joneses that is slightly creepy to begin with and the turn of events near the end is just horrible. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I liked it as well, but the editing was below standard so that dragged the movie down a bit. Not often you see that when Schoonmaker has helped Scorsese with a movie. She's usually great, but this time she failed.

Agreed although I did find the book's descriptions of every inate detail annoying in the end

Agreed, I often found myself skipping those paragraphs where he described suits etc., I can understand that they're meant to convey his total obsession with materialism, but they just became irrelevant after the first 100 or so pages.

Managed to download software which means I can watch movies on my iPhone at the weekend and I'm currently half way through the Shawshank Redemption, what a great film!

I finally saw Fargo, always meant to and it was on TV sunday. Great movie very weird and slow but it a good way.

That's one of those movies I liked when I saw it, but I was also way too young to really understand what was going on. I should probably give that another watch sometime soon.

Friday, the 1995 movie where a young Chris Tucker made his big screen debut. Its a pretty funny movie, and it has a cult following. It also spawned sequels, Next Friday and Friday After Next, but I watched these and although they're reasonably funny they don't have anything on the original- mainly because Chris Tucker isn't in them. It's also probably the only movie where Ice Cube put in a half decent acting performance.

Watched "Tom Brown's Schooldays" a couple of days ago. I really liked it.

am i the only person in the world that thinks the hangover part 2 was crap not funny at all....

I doubt it. I've heard people say it's not good. Personaly I haven't seen it yet, but I plan to do it. I have no high hopes for it though. The first one was good, but this one sounds like they've made the first movie all over again, but in another country. Quite stupid, if you ask me.

They're planning to make a third movie and I really hope they wont to the same thing again.

Currently watching Inception. I'm not sure how many times I've seen it now, but I think it's into double figures. I will never, ever get enough of this film, it's absolutely fantastic. The story is a masterstroke, the whole concept is just mindblowing.

I can't understand how we can be so far apart on this! I thought it was unmitigating crap!

it was amazing, did you understand the movie and knew what it was about?

Maksimov was right to hide behind the sofa!

Yes, I understood what it was supposed to be about. The concept is crap, the telling of it was crap. What more can I say???

How come you thought the concept was crap? I thought it was superb.

I thought the concept was interesting, but I think the it was wasted in this one. You do a movie about dreams(within dreams) and you make an action movie? There were some visually interesting scenes and the music worked well, but what was that poor man's James Bond action sequence doing at the end of the movie? Was that the only way they were able to create suspense? It was a slightly different kind of a summer blockbuster because of the concept and because I had no idea what I was in for(watched it before reading a word about the movie), so while I watched it, it felt like a good piece of escapism, but the more I think about it, I thought it was a somewhat missed opportunity.
