January 19, 201511 yr Christ Sly Stallone doesn't know when to pack it in does he? New Rocky film been anounced 'Creed' Should have stopped after Rocky 4. Rocky V was dog turd but I actually quite enjoyed Rocky Balboa (essentially Rocky 6 or Rocky VI if you will), seemed to go back to the roots of what Rocky was originally about. Still love the first Rocky a lot, superb film.
January 19, 201511 yr Talking of Stallone, watched Driven last night, a truly awful film! But I couldn't take my eyes off it.
January 19, 201511 yr Loved his early films, Rocky and Rambo were incredible but now it just seems as if he is cashing in (You can't blame him).
January 20, 201511 yr Not a movie but have been watching an excellent three part documentary on youtube about the Vietnam war. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3thoYcIpHVY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQW0dppFrjg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf92DFsBTNw Thoroughly enjoyed it 9/10 Edited January 20, 201511 yr by Devil Dog
January 20, 201511 yr Watched Dallas Buyers Club last night. Pretty intense subject matter but really well acted by the whole cast and quite an interesting story too, definitely recommend give it a watch. It's on UK Netlix at the moment as well. 8/10
January 20, 201511 yr Watched "Fury" a few nights ago, good movie. The ending is rather Hollywood shall we say, but its an inevitably grim story of WW2. Quite powerful actually 8/10 Edited January 20, 201511 yr by Zola
January 20, 201511 yr We're working our way through the series of Bond films and got to Octopussy on Sunday. I really enjoyed it - more than most of them. I thought it was corny and funny. So I was surprised when I checked where it was voted in the all-time favourite Bonds - 23rd out of 23! Ah well, it's good not to follow the crowd!

I always thought Moonraker (the one in space) was the worst Bond film. What's been your least favourite Bond so far? What made you want to watch through them all?
January 21, 201511 yr I'm a JB connoisseur myself, and my favourite films are broken down by the "Bonds" . Favourite one by Sean Connery- Diamonds Are Forever, I loved the rampage he went on in the beginning to find out who murdered his wife. Roger Moore- I know I'm going to get some stick for this, but the only film by him that I could tolerate was Live and Let Die. I didn't really care for Roger Moore, and a big reason was because he did my least favourite film, The Spy Who Loved Me (it was nothing more than a remake of From Russia With Love, in other words, nothing to do with the novel) . Timothy Dalton- The Living Daylights. I loved the cello chase scene. It was some good old-fashioned ingenuity at its best. Pierce Brosnan- Not a big fan of the movies, thought there was something lacking that was in the previous films. Daniel Craig- Casino Royale. It brought it back to the beginning, and was pretty faithful to the novel.
January 21, 201511 yr I always thought Moonraker (the one in space) was the worst Bond film. What's been your least favourite Bond so far? What made you want to watch through them all? I bought my son the boxed set for Christmas a few years back and it just seemed logical to watch them in chronological order. When my son and his girlfriend are in and hubby and me all fancy watching a film, Bond is one of the few that we can all agree on watching as we have quite different tastes in films. I agree that Moonraker was pretty dire - the worst so far, though I didn't enjoy The Spy Who Loved Me much or For Your Eyes Only which I fell asleep in! But I agree that I don't like Roger More much - he's a bit nasty though Zola (or was it Blueblur, I can't remember) told me that this was more faithful to the books. I find him a bit smarmy. Haven't got to TD and PB yet (although I have seen some in the past, I can't really remember them). I've loved all of DC's even Quantum of Solace which wasn't well rated. Oh and liked Goldfinger and I think Diamonds are Forever but I can't quite remember!
January 21, 201511 yr foxcatcher-7.2/10 it's a one hour movie stretched into two hour, disappointing because moneyball was great eventho idk sh*t about baseball lol whiplash 9.5/10 wow

January 21, 201511 yr Brilliant film ^. 'Sir, does this mean that Ann-Margaret's not coming?' You probably know this Rich but that film was filmed in East London. Honest... I think I knew that. I think the buildings that were used in the final scenes were ones scheduled to be knocked down. Or something!
January 21, 201511 yr I think that's right. Hamburger Hill aside, it's probably the best Vietnam film. Hamburger Hill is more of a straight war film but it's relentless and wearing and effective.

I think FMJ is the only Vietnam War film I've seen. Unless you count Forrest Gump. The war doesn't really interest me from a cinema perspective to be honest.
January 21, 201511 yr Forrest Gump counts. Good film too. Vietnam films were in fashion in the late 80s and 90s and as recently as Mel Gibson's 'We Were Soldiers...'; it could be an age thing...

Apocalypse Now? Platoon? Good morning, Vietnam? Born on the Fourth of July? Plenty of contenders for best Vietnam film... Though FMJ is my favourite. "boy, there's only two kinds of people from Texas..." 'The Quiet American' is very good also. I couldn't really take to 'Good Morning Vietnam'; not sure why.
January 22, 201511 yr Love Full Metal Jacket. The opening rant from the drill Sargent is virtually ad libbed. Queers & Steers!
