The Inbetweeners 2, utter utter crap 1 out of 10.

Just sh*t!

First one was sh*t aswell, should have never been made into the film after a great series.

I thought Man of Steel was okay but plodded along a bit.

I've seen it just once, but I thought it was the most boring superhero movie I've ever seen. The plot was so forgettable that I... Well, I can't remember much about it. I guess the production values were alright, but it was just so mediocre and bland that it felt like a waste of money. Not for me as I watched it on the telly, but a waste of money for the production company. They might as well have spent the money on something good. Don't get me wrong... It's not crap. I'd rather have watched a crap movie that takes some risks with the material, but this one played it so safe, that it was just boring as hell.

I find Superman as a hero quite boring... He's too... Perfect.

He doesn't have enough character flaws to be interesting. That's what makes most other superheros watchable.

Exactly! Well, I guess "Man of Steel" is no more than he deserves, then... :happy001:

I think Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen is a much better take on an almighty character. Much more interesting. At least in the comic book/graphic novel (whichever you prefer to call it), that is...

Foxcatcher, story of two Olympic wrestlers who join up with John Du Ponts ambitious plans for a wrestling team at the Seoul Olympics. True story with a tragic ending but way to slooooooooooooow in telling it. 5/10

Just saw As Above, So Below

I find mythology fascinating and while it's fairly messy, it's still a decent film. It's a mash up between National Treasure and The Blair Witch Project. Worth a watch. Ending is poor though

7/10

The Hobbit BOFA. A decent end to a disappointing prequel trilogy overall. Enjoyed the first Hobbit, disliked the second and enjoyed the third, however none of them are a patch on LOTR.

8/10.

Tim Burton's new film Big Eyes. It's the true story of the artist Margaret Keane whose work (mostly depicting sad looking children with oversized eyes, hence the film's title) became massively popular in the sixties. What makes her story interesting is that nobody knew she was the painter, her domineering husband taking all the credit instead. Interesting film, quite humourous in places (the courtroom scene was great), and Christoph Waltz is brilliant as the husband Walter.

Assault on Precinct 13 - the second version with Ethan Hawke and Loz Fishburne.

It's a capable action film. It's one of those films where you know the story fully but enjoy the ride. My main film of that type is Westerns so I'll catch one of those this evening - probably Chisum with John Wayne.

APologies for the auto name change there Spud - I really should get round to fixing that in the settings!

Into the Woods.  One continuous annoying song sung by actors with terrible voices.  It was like fingernails down a blackboard, my daughter loved it though and to be fair the effects were very good.

I recorded Born on the Fourth of July a while ago and just got round to watching it, saw it years ago but couldn't remember the ending.

Oh Tom, where did it go wrong? The potential he showed in that film... such a shame.

7.5/10.

Ignoring all the scientology stuff Tom Cruise is one of the few actors who can draw in an audience on name alone.

You look at his filmography and it's pretty impressive reading.

Indeed, his early career makes for very good reading. I'm sure he can attract an audience with his name but to be honest whenever I see a film advertised that he's going to be in I know to stay away. Perhaps his personal life has slightly influenced that but so has War of the Worlds, Mission Impossible III, Knight and Day, another Mission Impossible.... Plus a lot of his good stuff he did before I was 10, so I wouldn't have seen it at the time nor have since.

I really liked Born on the Fouth of July and A Few Good Men.
