Forrest Gump counts. Good film too. Vietnam films were in fashion in the late 80s and 90s and as recently as Mel Gibson's 'We Were Soldiers...'; it could be an age thing...

Not at all relevant, really, Spuddie, but the Mel Gibson title reminded me of a brilliant New Zealand film, "Once Were Warriors".

Have you seen it? What about you, Youlots, have you seen it?

I have Moi, excellent film, and read the book, there's also a follow up. What about 'An Angel at my table'?

I don't know An Angel At My Table. I shall google it forthwith.

Just have. I shall order it from Amazon as soon as I get home. Thanks for that, Droogba.

Once Were Warriors & An Angel At My Table - both outstanding films. Both confronting & harrowing in different ways. The acting & direction in both is top notch but I feel that Campion's direction of Angel just shades Warriors simply because she does a remarkable job in translating Frame's story to screen which was always going to be very difficult. The excellence of both films rightfully ensured that both Campion & Tamahori were given real impetus in their careers which, at least in my view, have been disappointing in terms of what both have done since.

We are big fans of the Aus and NZ film industry in this house, including the very funny 'Muriel's Wedding'. Did anyone watch the NZ series on our screens a while back, Top of the Lake I think it was.

There's also a nice little film, Tangiwai, about Bob Blair which is not entirely accurate, but nevertheless a nicely crafted film.

I've not seen that film Moi. Thanks for the tip - I'll look out for it.

Ex Machina - Brilliant, thought provoking science fiction. Highly recommended if you enjoy films like Moon, I Origins, Sunshine, Ghost In The Shell, etc. It makes you wonder what potentially Google could do with all that information they are harvesting .

Watched Spring Breakers (2012) yesterday and still don't really know what to think about it's conception. I really liked the use of colours, visually it's a fantastic movie.

Saw Under The Skin last night. Weird, confusing film but very engaging and visually very impressive. Not for the closed-minded. The title is very appropriate literally and figuratively.

Whisky Galore. Made in 1949. Have watched it a number of times. It's about something close to my heart.

It is so funny!  Love seeing the Protestants standing glumly on the cliff waiting for the Sabbath to end, while the Catholics row out to get the whisky!

I've had a (very) quick look and can't see this but I'm assuming it's been posted already.

Watching "The Theory of Everything" and there's a scene in a French hospital. The doctor is played by a bald former centre half who spent a lot of time on his arse. I nearly got ejected from the cinema as I ejaculated "What the f**k! Franck LeBoeuf"

Went to see Ex Machina the other day and had been really looking forward to it. Its about A.I. and specifically a guy performing an advanced Turing test on a robot at his boss' house(basically the owner of the films' version of google).

Not a huge amount actually happens in the film but I enjoyed it though I was disappointed with the ending, I was expecting it to be a bit more.... clever (for lack of a better word).

Probably not a film for everyone but worth seeing if your cinema has a cheap day.
