Last Movie You Watched

Netflix has been recommending Blue Ruin to me for ages now so last night I gave in and gave it a watch. The premise appealed to me (homeless man hears that the guy who hurt his family is being released from prison and sets about getting revenge) and it's exactly the kind of low-budget, well made indie film I usually enjoy, but for some reason this didn't quite do it for me. I still think it's a decent film though and worth watching, especially if you enjoy violent revenge stories.

The best violent revenge story is Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman.

Even better than Blade Runner?

Comfortably.

A vigilante homeless man pulls into a new city and finds himself trapped in urban chaos, a city where crime rules and where the city's crime boss reigns. Seeing an urban landscape filled with armed robbers, corrupt cops, abused prostitutes and even a pedophile Santa, the Hobo goes about bringing justice to the city the best way he knows how - with a 20-gauge shotgun. Mayhem ensues when he tries to make things better for the future generation. Street justice will indeed prevail.

Will make  a point of finding that on Amazon!  Thanks

Just so you know... This is basically a modern day 80's B movie with corn syrup blood effects by the gallon.

This is a movie with memorable quotes such as:

"When life gives you razor blades, you make a baseball bat... covered in razor blades"

Basically, it's sh*t... But intentionally so.

For the record I love Unforgiven and Hobo with a Shotgun, but my favourite revenge movie is probably the original Oldboy.

Good shout. I assume the original and not the American remake?

Does Taken count as a revenge film? If so love that one.

Also Kill Bill parts 1 & 2 and Leon.

Yep the original, I rarely bother with remakes. The prequel/sequels Sympathy for Mr Vengeance and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance are great too but Oldboy is definitely the pick of the trilogy.

Those films you mentioned are all good, especially Kill Bill. Which reminds me, Kill Bill was heavily 'influenced' by a 70s Japanese samurai flick called Lady Snowblood, it's not as brilliant as Kill Bill is but it's still a good film and well worth seeing.

Lone Survivor - a very good example of the 'cut off and alone behind enemy lines' genre of war film. The action and emotion are well done and there's an interesting (and true) twist at the end of the film.

Enjoying one of my favourite films right now, this minute; ' The Searchers'. I've lost count how many times I've seen it, but it's great for its genre.

It is, sometimes I can take or leave him, but this is one of my favourites. I also like ' The Quiet Man' a great deal.

Yes, this is a good one.  I also liked the Comancheros.  I was a great Western fan when I was wee!

Enjoy!!!  I loved it when everybody in the picture house (NOT cinema) used to stand up and cheer when the goodies came galloping in!

Horrible Bosses.

Comedy with a whole host of stars in it, Jenifer Aniston in particular was surprisingly funny.

It's a fairly easy going watch with a bunch of cheap laughs but pretty good for switching off for and hour and an half.

Escape Plan.

Prison escape film with Stalone and Arnie, dream team pairing 20 years ago, now like watching a couple of giant walnuts in prison suits.

The plot doesn't really make much sense and to be honest I started to fall asleep watching it and it all started to get a bit stupid near the end so I just turned it off.
