Other than Ashley COle (who was shocking) I don't think anyone actually played that poorly (JT very poor for the first goal but still OK overall). Individual mistakes rather than team performance cost us the game.

MOTM for me was between Ivanovic, Malouda and Sturridge's role off the bench. Went for Malouda.

Giving it for Sturridge just because he tried hard from the minute he came on. Should have buried from Essien beautiful pass but I'll give him a break as it is a pre-season game.

I went for Ivanovic. Rock solid in defense and was a real danger at set pieces.

Sturridge was probably our best player but he didn't play that long so I went with the big Serbian. Ivan picked up right where he left off last season. What a fantastic player.

Malouda first half, Sturridge second half. Flo nicked it for me for having more time than Danny, who was awesome! Wish we had played him from the start.

Ivan. Solid the entire game

Strridge looked great the time he was on, and I was upset to see Florent subbed just as he was getting better in the second half.

STURRIDGE...... I thought we looked a more attacking force once he came on. Worked hard and looked energetic.

Something you can't say about many others.

STURRIDGE looked lively when he came on needs a run in the team will he get in front of Drogba or Anelka?,we should be ok this season.Looked a bit rusty but more games we play they will improve

So I went for Kalou. ;)

I said Ivanovic but Malouda, Essien, and especially Sturridge came close. I really hope Sturridge gets the nod over Anelka next week.

i've gone for sturridge quality off the bench changed the game...

I thought Kalou was decent as was Malouda and Sturridge made a claim for a starting place soon if Anelka doesn't hit a bit of form early season.

Ivanovic for me though, fast becoming my favourite player now Joe's gone.

Ferreira was ok again and is still back up for a few positions we should be happy to have.

Ivanovic - thought he was comfortably our best defender and would have deservedly scored (deserved for both the player and the team) if it hadn't been for a spectacular save from Van der Sar.

Hmm, not really anyone who was terrible, but at the same time noone was great.

As many have said it is probably between Essien, Malouda, Sturridge and Ivanovic.

Sturridge is ruled out for me, because he should have scored from that Essien ball. If your gonna be first team you've just got to score those.

Ivanovic did ok, but may have simply looked good by comparison to his back four companions JT and Cole.

That leaves Malouda who I think is almost the real star of our team he is constantly involved in everything good we do, and Essien who was terrific in midfield his ball for Sturridge was out of this world.

Going to vote for Malouda, if Chelsea are going to come even close to repeating their exploits from last season, he's going to have repeat his as well.

Malouda and Iva were our better players, Ashley Cole was shocking as was Mikel. Thought Terry looked poor aswell but thats it everyone else was average I thought

Sturridge for me, he played really well when he came on, was lively, took on defenders, got an assist and should've scored. Good performance from the young man, gives me more confidence in him by the game.

Sturridge for me, so impressed with this lad coming on against man u and totally rippin them at the end, shame he did not get a goal out of it.
