Drogba is the best . At times the english press is going overboard in comparing rooney alongside Drogba and Torres . See it is very difficult to be a center forward and rooney is not a pure center forward .

Drogba and Torres can play the lone man striker and I would say strikers should not be compared with Center forwards in terms of skill and performance . Any day , it is difficult to play a lone center forward . Thats why the Brazilian magician Ronaldo is the best ever . He can play both as a lone man and with a supporting striker .

Nailed on legend status already, he will also be one of those iconic players for years to come. The thing I hate is when I praise him to non-Chelsea folk they just blurt out this diving, he's a girl nonsense, which for me, he has had a few moments but he is no way near as bad as made out. In fact if you can rely on someone to stay on his feet it is normally him (Television conveniently don't show much of them moments, and of course, do the opposite to StevieG)

He is going to be tough to replace, what are the general thoughts ? One more season at his best ?

I think he has at least 3 more at his best, he seems to be getting better and better for every year and at the moment he seem to be in his prime when it comes to his fitness.

Scored a goal at the World Cup whilst dealing with a hernia and a broken arm.

Stopped a civl war.

What a player.

I use this all the time. Whenever anyone says "Torres/Rooney/Van Persy is better than Drogba" I ask if they have ever stopped a war though.

It's great, isn't it? It's an instant banter victory when you bring up the civil war card. Have either of those three irrelevant pricks ever been named as one of the 'Time magazine's 100 most influential people on the planet'?

Oh, as well as being a better footballer than all three of them could even dream of being.

To me the best striker on this planet on the moment. All bar Chelsea fans seems to dislike him, but I don't care. He's OUR Drogba and a Chelsea legend.

I think this perception has changed a bit. I would say that dislike seems to have turned to awe or grudging respect from what I have seen.

Hmmm...but when he's single handedly winning games for us, people will always be quick to mention his....antics...even though he's improved a lot.

Jealousy is merely evidence of the deepest longing though..so...let them think what they will.

Drogba is truly a phenomenon. I don't think I've ever seen a striker with as many gifts as he has. There's no striker around that comes close.

We are lucky to have him and if he maintains his form for a couple more years we should win a few more trophies.

and now... Stadium Drogba, or maybe Le Stade De Drogba:

French club Levallois SC to name stadium after Didier Drogba

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba will have the honour of seeing a stadium named after him in France, according RMC.

The French fourth division club Levallois Sporting has announced that its new stadium will be named after Didier Drogba during the inauguration ceremony on September 29 in the town of Levallois-Perret near Paris.

Drogba had played youth football with Levallois when he was 15, before moving to Le Mans in 1997.

The club said Drogba would be present at the ceremony.

"Drogba was just something totally different," said Ian Evatt (Blackpool).

"I am used to playing against strong players but you don't realise just how strong this guy is until you face him.

"At one stage in the second half, I put my whole bodyweight in front of him and he just tossed me away like I was a rag doll.

I've had my problems with Drogba, I thought he sulked and proved how little he cared for Chelsea when he wasn't Big Phil's favourite and I never liked the negative publicity he's bought us with his diving and cheating (it's been real even if you don't want to admit it). All that said, the bloke is an awesome centre forward, by far the best I've ever seen and the fact that he's got those negatives but is still considered a legend speak volumes. I'd like to know if he would put Chelsea first if the bad times came, but I guess that's irrelevant now, lets just enjoy what he give us.
