Official Chelsea Chat site farked

Featured Replies

Jax has completely farked up the Official Chelsea Chat site with a hopelessly unuseable new version.

Expect a lot of new registrations here.

Well if the input is the same, they best stay there.

Too right, weve had enough new muppets on here lately.

Oi, I like to think I've been quite reasonable. :)

Have also been a regular on the official chat for a few years and it's carnage on there at the mo. What needed to be sorted was the server, not the format which the vast majority were comfortable with.

I've never bothered with the chat on the official site, but I regularly visit the rumour mill. And it has to be said that the new layout with the beige background is bloody 'orrible.

This is the only site I use for all things Chelsea.

mod and Loz, you might need that "banned" button at the ready

I ve never used the official site for the chat forum. I only read the news updates and buy tickets through it.The site seems slow at the best of times.

If everyone flocks here after the first choice is down, it seems we are the Salomon Kalou of the Chelsea social internet world.

Only if they start off over there and come over here for the last ten minutes! :laugh2:

Me too!

Its already a bit of a struggle to wade through a lot of boring and irresponsible sh*t to read the comments of the regular posters over here. Cant imagine what would happen if everyone from there flocked in.

I've tried using that chat site before, but it's so badly designed and laid out i'm surprised anyone bothers.

I've just found this list of Chelsea fan sites/blogs on the official site:

FAN BLOGS

This site is currently rated third with a measly 3 star average. That can't be right now, can it.

Seeing as the good old original CSR has 3 stars and is has not been updated since 2008 it wouldn't be too worried about this

Up to 2nd place with 4 stars now. When I found the list it was down somewhere around 10th.

The official chat site was more like going down the pub. It had a unique format and some fantastic banter.

Held together by the common interest of Chelsea FC but discussing every subject under the sun in a "live" environment.

Unfortunately, it seems that there is a club driven agenda to clean it up, dumb it down and encourage new posters with high idiocy levels.

There's been a few of these on here recently, too.

lol. Well, nowhere's perfect. Personally very disappointed with what's happening on the Official one. Bit hard to explain to people who didn't have an affinity with it.

Seems like most people on here didn't like it.

Anyway, love your pic ;-)

I have belonged to this site, the official site and indeed a few others for some time. I rarely, if ever, post. I'm afraid I began to lose interest in the official site on the last revamp.

After a while JAX announced that he was looking to 'update the site format' and asking for suggestions. I answered with a suggestion that he look at this site for ideas. If you were at work all day then who the hell wanted to scroll back a zillion posts !! I feel that the site had a clique of members, outsiders were frequently ignored or verbally abused. Chelsea is /has become an international brand. People from overseas were trying to join in the banter, and because their English was not up to scratch they often suffered verbal abuse. I do not visit this site on a daily basis. However when I have seen a supporter from abroad he/she are generally welcomed with an understanding from present members.

The new site will not suit everyone, changes are rarely welcomed, but I feel that JAX has gone someway to altering some of the points I have made. The luddites will eventually accept it (does need a few changes here and there IMO) It's life .

Thank you, Monterrey Jack! The Shed End certainly doesn't tolerate rudeness to posters whose first language is not the Queen's English - unless, of course, they are Americans! :laugh2:

Your name is interesting - isn't there a cheese in America called Monterrey Jack? We have a thread somewhere in the Shed End Lounge about reasons for choosing user names.

You are correct in many ways. Most regulars used it more when they were at "work", than at home so the situation of having to "scroll back a zillion posts" wasn't an issue. It was the live, "down the pub" nature of it, that made it unique. It wasn't geared for ongoing item discussion. You are also correct about the cliquey nature of it and the abuse to outsiders - though frequently justified. However, it was mostly "banter", although could be seen as harsh. It was more of an initiation. Giving a bit back normally did the trick. The caustic humour was part of its character.

Looks like the thing has gone tits up this morning. If the old one didn't set a good impression for Brand Chelsea, this one doesn't even work, and should not have been released.
