Cheik Tiote

This kid could be worth a shout. Best mates with Drogba apparently too (Recomened him to the Premier League)! Makelele was my favourtite player ever at CFC. ... and i think this kid has what it takes. Hard tackler and has a engine. Dont think Mikel is having a great season too. Would he do a job for us guys? Discuss ........

He looks like he is going to be a quality player, but not sure if he will ever reach the quality of starting for a top 4 side. Newcastle also just signed him to a fairly lengthy extension, so if anyone is going after him this summer, it won't be cheap.

In one of the Daily papers this week, there was a story about Tiote being GLAD that Newcastle turned down a bid from Chelsea on the last day of the January window.

Looks like he might already be on Roman's radar !!

I read it, he was talking about it being a good place for him to focus on football. He doesn't seem in a rush to make the big move. He didn't really say he didn't want to join Chelsea. Came over as a fairly sensible player, would deffo be one to consider for the future. However holding midfield is a position we are not desperate for. Essien, Ramires, Josh & Mikel can all play there. Its Frank position that we need to think about, as much as it disapoints me, he can't go on for ever. I hope the club utilise him like Scholes & Giggs have been at Unt.

Maybe Florent Malouda would be used as a central figure now, rather than a winger. Which then would cover the ageing 'Super Frank'. As also France have been using more in the middle too. Just a suggestion. :)

Malouda is hardly the youngest player we could pick to be a long term replacement. We would be looking for a replacement for him in 2 seasons.

makes reasonable sense...he's young and at £15m is a reasonable price...surely better than paying a loan fee plus wages for Parker for a year, only to have to look for another midfielder again next year

Seemed quite good when I last saw him, but do we really need another African? We already get hit harder than most when the ACON comes around, we'll be leaving ourselves quite short again.

I thought we needed creativity in the midfield?

Ramires and benayoun can be used instead of essien, but we still need another creative midfielder besides frank lampard.
