demba ba anyone? all this talk of Falcao in January, but surely it makes sense to spend 7million (if that's true?) and get a striker in who seems to be more than capable of scoring goals in this league as a backup/rotation with Torres and Sturridge. Then hey, if it doesn't work out, sell him and torres in the summer then look at revamping with a big money man like Falcao or Cavani or the next 35m+ rated guy.

He wasnt in the lineup simply because he's been out for more than two weeks injured and if you visit the ManU-Spurs game again you will see that Kagawa played left wing when rooney came in.He mainly drifted to the right were Nani still occupied by the way to stretch the pitch.Typical of a SST

Something I was wondering about. Injury record isn't great, but with two other strikers thats not much f an issue. And his strike record speaks for itself better than 1 in 2 iirc. At the price, he's a bargain, but can he and Torres rotate? He doesn't seem to bide well being number 2 at newcastle, he'll be the same here, only on more money..

We are Chelsea, we wont be signing a scond best striker from a team like Newcastle anytimes soon ( no offence to Newcastle).

Trouble with signing someone like Falco is, it's petty much the same scenario Torres had 2 years ago. We are paying huge money for a guy in his prime, he is expecte to start week in week out and deliver straight away, and what about the other big name striker in the team? im sure he will do better than Torres, but damn there are a lot of risks there.

The difference is, Torres was past his best (due to injuries). Falcao really is one of the best in the world right now (along with Cavani).

If we are looking at longevity perhaps we should break the bank for Leandro Damiao

No interest in Ba. People jumped all over Torres when he walked down the tunnel after being subbed, but Ba creates a fuss anytime he's played out of position or doesn't start. He's a good player, but his injury record is atrocious and it's only a matter of time before he gets seriously injured again.

Cissé then.

Ba's release clause expired when the transfer window closed.

He still wants out. 7M is the figure being mentioned. We do need another striker. Sturridge's injury has showed this, though it's not like we needed proof. Ba's an interesting option, though his injury record is poor, his strike rate is among the best, and thats from a newcastle team, put him in a team with the service here..Can anyone confirm or deny that this injury record is correct? If it is, his last injury was over 2 years ago?

Pardew has said recently that it's still in effect and he can still be bought for £7m in the next transfer window.

He had a serious injury when he played in Belgium and apparently the surgery was botched. He had to go under the knife again to clean everything up, but the damage had already been done and his knee has continued to trouble him since. In the meantime, he's failed medicals for Stuttgart and Stoke. He probably would have failed his medical for Newcastle as well but he was willing to sign a pay-as-you-play contract. Don't you think it's telling that nobody has activated his release clause?

Even without the injuries, his attitude would make me uncomfortable. His departure from Hoffenheim was acrimonious, to say the least, and now there are some issues coming to the surface at Newcastle. Even though he's yet to score a league goal this year, I'd rather have Cisse. Of course, Cisse doesn't come with the same health risks and Newcastle would be asking for a much higher fee, so I don't see the value in such a move. I'd rather just avoid dealing with them altogether. There are plenty of quality strikers out there.

Javier Hernandez, anyone? According to the BBC Gossip Column, Fergie is willing to sell. The problem will be if Man U are willing to sell to us.

I think Javier could add something different to the team as a back-up. He's a different kind of striker to Torres.

Rather Llorente or Lewandowski, I absolutely dislike Hernandez.

Speaking of Lewandowski, he refused to sign a new deal and could go on the cheap in January or for free in the summer, we should be all over that.

Didn't he score against spuds?

Are we talking about BA here? He's top scorer with 6 goals ahead of RVP who has 5.

Would a mod delete my previous post? My phone went crazy and I can't edit it.

Ah, got a little confused there.

Id take BA anyway, he already agreed a pay as you play contract at Newcastle, he should be able to accept one here IMO.

That was when the move was seen as a gamble on the part of Newcastle given his previous injury record.

That would not be the case anymore. Given his decent injury record and more than decent goal scoring record in the last couple of seasons along with a humble transfer fee, I doubt he would take anything other than a good 3-4 years contract with a good pay package.

Break the bank for Oscar's mate, Leandro Dameoa. Luiz, Rambo and Oscar will make his transition easier. The guys an ox and because he is young he could be the perfect backup for Nando.

We have a big striker in Lukaku. If we are gonna break the bank on a Brazilian it should be Neymar.
