November 12, 201213 yr Danny made it clear he won't play on the wing, and as a striker he sucks. Why do people keep saying this? When has he ever come out and said he doesn't want to play on the wing, or that he "won't"? Whever it's brought up it's because someone has asked him if he'd like to get more games in the centre, and of course he says yes because he's a striker, but he has also said he's happy to play anywhere as long as he plays... Stop believing this bullsh*t the media come out with to try and unsettle our squad.
November 12, 201213 yr I think at the time the Times had the main article about it but I found this. http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/andre-villasboas-tells-daniel-sturridge-to-forget-about-playing-up-front-7309914.html
November 12, 201213 yr I think at the time the Times had the main article about it but I found this. http://www.standard....nt-7309914.html That article doesn't feature any quotes from Sturridge. In addition, a quote from AVB seems to dispel the notion that Sturridge is upset at playing out wide: "Daniel can be used as a striker but the players who compete for that position are Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba and Romelu Lukaku. This question is not new and we've spoken about it before. It's not true that Daniel is under any kind of discomfort. If he was, we'd have to address it." If Danny had made it clear he won't play out wide, why did he play there against Reading earlier this year? Shouldn't he have refused? After all, you say he made it clear that he won't play anywhere but striker.

November 13, 201213 yr G read between the lines. Okay. Danny would prefer to play at striker but he's content to play out wide if that's what he needs to do to get in the lineup consistently. If you're reading anything else into those comments, then you're creating your own narrative that doesn't exist.

November 13, 201213 yr its like we havent shipped off too many CMs already Hopefully it means we have new blood for the position. TBH I was disappointed the last run out he got looked a shadow of that player under AVB.
November 13, 201213 yr With De Bruyne and Josh to come back do we need another CM at the minute? If we bring in another then that means Josh and De Bruyne would be facing another year away from Chelsea meaning it's highly unlikely they will ever become part of this side we are building. Arsenal took chances with Wilshire and ramsday maybe we should to the same?
November 13, 201213 yr with Josh and De Bruyne both would play well with Ramires and Mikel behind them, but that wouldn't suit the current formation at all. So they would be in competion with Ramires and not Mikel in the current system, so if RDM doesn't rate Romeou and sells him and buys a 'pure' DM I don't think it will hamper the 2 loanees to much just heap pressure on MIkel
November 13, 201213 yr I don't think Romeu's going to make it at this level anyway. He'll become a reasonable player, but not a player for a title challenging team.

Both of these players have defensive capabilities that are borderline non existent, so we could still use one more in that area...
November 13, 201213 yr I think Romeu absolutely has the tools to make it at this level, but he needs minutes to develop. With only two central midfielders and the partnership of Ramires and Mikel working as well as it has, there's very little opportunity for him. Edited November 13, 201213 yr by That Boy Brandinho
November 14, 201213 yr I don't think Romeu's going to make it at this level anyway. He'll become a reasonable player, but not a player for a title challenging team. I give him just as much a chance of making it as McEachran or De Bruyne. He seems a little nervous with the ball when under pressure though, I noticed against Swansea, but minutes are what he needs at this point in his career.

November 14, 201213 yr How much truth is there to Remy having had a medical with us before the window shut? I assumed it was just paper talk, but if not, surely he's the one we'll be going in for in Jan?
November 14, 201213 yr http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/chelsea-launching-surprise-bid-juventus-striker-matri-3633891 It's tribalfootball, but what you guys think about that? He is cheap, that's for sure.
November 14, 201213 yr Read it earlier, but have never heard of the guy. Almost certainly rubbish. These sites know we need a striker, so pick a name out of a hat and whip up a quick article to get more page hits.
November 15, 201213 yr Surprised you've never heard of him. I'd stay clear of Matri though, his goalscoring record of late hasn't been good at all. If we were looking to buy Juve players then I'd probably go in for Vidal or Marchisio, but of course that's not going to happen. Matri's a no for me though, I doubt he'd solve our finishing problems.
November 15, 201213 yr Gem might like him, but he's sort of bad at football. Huntelaar please, if any.
November 15, 201213 yr Matri isn't bad, but he isn't good either. Good at reading the game and knowing when to run and such, but his technique isn't good and he's not a great goalscorer. And as for Huntelaar - has he ever been good outside the Netherlands or Germany? I'm not sure about him. But if he's cheap, maybe worth a gamble. Edited November 15, 201213 yr by The Moos
November 15, 201213 yr At International level he has scored goals pretty regular. (34 in 59) 8 goals in 20 games for Milan, while only 7 in 30 for Madrid.
