It's great business for Corinthians, because he's still young enough to be able to overcome his injuries and make them a tidy profit, but even at £12m, I'm not sure I'd want us to buy him. It's not just that he hasn't been fit the past few years - he hasn't looked the same player when he's been on the pitch. I'm skeptical that he ever will be again.

It's not completed yet but yes, it is a steal for Corinthians; Milan are desperate to sell for both financial stability and to buy Balotelli.

 

However, considering Pato wanted to go home to Brazil, and that there's a buy back clause in case he hits form and Milan want him back, I don't think the price AC Milan would have sold to other European clubs at would have made him as value for money as Corinthians will get him for, especially taking into account recent injuries.

I'd have loved us to him for 12m the amount we've wasted on players like Veron, crespo, shevchenko, at the very least we'd only have lost a few mill if it it work out and we sold him on, at the best he could have over come his injuries like rvp and robben, and gone on to be a world class player.

will be gutted if we end up with Remy or gomis for the same price!

I doubt he would have come here and like others have said he is jsut making sure he will be in the WC squad.

Who knows if he will ever live up to his early promise but £12 million is not a HUGE risk considering the prices we have thrown at things that have let us down in the past.

Let's hope our dealings can be just as shrewed as this if it goes through.  (Falcao, I'm looking at you!)

I believe Milan have put clauses in the transfer, If we went for him we probably wouldnt have got him for the same deal.

So with Sturridge going in January and the news that Falcao is staying until the summer at the very least ( i didn't really think he would join us in January anyway ) who are we going to bring in ? A couple days ago i said i feared that we would let Sturridge go and the club would just assume that we could bring in another striker easily. Well at the moment it seems my fear is coming true, we are going to go into January with just 1 striker and no clear replacement in sight. Why do we do this ? why do we take such risk's all the time ?

I think hes a class player, but a bit of a weird move. Man U scores more then anyone in the league but have pretty gaping holes at LB and CM, they could also do with another winger. Not sure why they would buy Lewandowski. 

May have been a case of at that price he's too good to turn down. The thought of him linking up with Kagawa again is something, plus Van Persie will be 30 by the time they start playing together.

 

Manchester United are in for Strootman at CM, I guess in defence they're hoping Jones, Rafael, Fabio, Smalling, Evans develop into something a little better than what they are at the moment, plus getting Vidic back is like a new signing for them. He has another 2/3 years left still.

That's about what Lewandowski is worth, IMO. Hardly a bargain.

 

Strootman is exactly the sort of player they need, though. Hope they don't land him.

It is but I would hardly think that classifies as an April fools story, they tried to sell him in the summer and more importantly, he's actually good. If anyone was to bid that much for him Sevilla would send him packing without a second thought, they need the money.

It's more than likely an April fools story. They said Mourinho got sacked as a joke as well. Not believing this.

 

If a more reputable source outside of spain comes out with the story i'l believe and that doesn't mean the Daily Mail either, who I see are running the story.

Go look at his stats in the league on transfermarkt. He's been a 1 in 2 striker since the 10/11 season. Still only 27.

Don't think his finishing is what should be questioned, it's whether or not he's worth the £17m Sevilla seem to want (April fools or not anyone who pays that gets him). I would say no personally but I would still be content if we got him for that.

 

Certinately better than Ba, Bent, etc anyway who would come at a similar fee.

The difference is that Negredo doesn't have wonky knees (Ba), nor is he trash (Bent). He wouldn't be my first choice, but £17m sounds about right for a 27 year old Spanish international scoring nearly a goal per game in La Liga.
