Just looked this game up online; it was the  first game under floodlights at Champion Hill. Chelsea won 3-Nil, crowd of 4,000.

Thought the attendance might have been higher than that- believe they had 20,000 plus before.

Yeah the crowd officially given back then was often just a guess.

Or more spectators were in the grounds than the turnstiles 'clicked through'.

The Morton v Chelsea game 1st Round Fairs Cup Second Leg tie at Cappielow in Sept 1968 is officially given as  8,000.

My old man always laughed at that crowd, saying they must have 'accidentally left off 10,000 spectators' !

19680930.jpg My old man attended this game . One of the 'official attendance' of 8,000 !

. I'd didn't attend. My mum wouldn't allow me to. This is due to me being just 15 months old at the time:biggrin:. A poor excuse I accept:biggrin:

Image result for stamford bridge 1990s Denis Wise v Norwich at The Bridge on Saturday 12th Sept 1992.

Looks like Chris Sutton up against Wisey.

You paid to get into Saturday morning pictures?

At Fulham Broadway, thought one kid paid then hit the emergency exit at the back and everyone piled in before the commissionaire could work out where they had gone.

Wagon wheels were defo larger then as well.

Sometimes but yes, we had the same at the cinema where I live. One would pay and then open the door at the back. Looking back it must have been a nightmare for the staff with all us kids running about.

Agree about the wagon wheels. And talking about sweets I remember buying eight black jacks or fruit salads for an old penny.

I had never even noticed, cheers.

We lost that match v Norwich 3-2. Mick Harford 2nd and Andy Townsend 29th min put us 2-0 up. They came back with three second half goals to win .16,880 saw it. This was the first season of the Premier League and Norwich finished 3rd.  They were 2pts behind Villa who were 2nd and 12pts behind Title winners Man Utd.

Yet we'd played them not a month before in the League. On Wednesday, 19th August 1992, losing 2-1 at Carrow Road.

Think that might of been when Beasant threw two in for Norwich, followed by cries of there's only one Kevin Hitchcock

That looks like Chris Sutton putting in a challenge.

Hello! I would like to ask who scored this goal below. I only know that it was from 1964-65 season. 🙂

John Hollis was our No 4 for 1964/65 and he only scored 2 goals at The Bridge. v Leeds and Peterborough in the FA Cup . Strip looks wrong for 1964/65

We wore blue shorts in 1964/65.

Are you entering a competition for posting the shortest-ever YouTube clip?!

Sorry, can't help you with the scorer.

programme cover for Chelsea v Carlisle United, Saturday, 23rd Aug 1975 Saturday, 23rd Aug 1975 v Carlisle Utd. we won 3-1  In front of 19,165. T eddy Maybank got two goals, scoring in the 27th and 54th mins. Brian Bason also scored for us, in the 69th min.

This was Brian Bason's only goal for us. I admit to having to look up his record for us as I simply didn't recognise the name.

An apology to him if he ever reads this, or to anyone who knows him !
