Both games were draws that meant we stuttered at the end always wondered how we would have done in the first division not well if the following season was anything to go by. Tony Grealish is the Luton player who presented me with my first football medal (which I still have !) when I was 11. His parents ran a pub in the Harrow Road long since shut he died a few years ago the funeral was in Kilburn a mate of mine was standing next to Liam Brady in the pub after.

I actually described him as skillful and a good passer of the ball after his debut at Arsenal.

Did he take the free kick that Dixon scored from ?

The other memorable moment was when he flattened Viv Anderson (?) right in front of us in the seats !

Quite a nicely flighted ball that. About the most delicate thing he ever did!

Strange looking bloke with his hay seed hair and missing teeth. Braveheart central casting. Can you imagine what his sister looked like 😃

No wonder clubs knew about our reputation but didn't care cause they knew they'd get their highest gate of the season those attendances are dreadful. Fair play to Kevin Dixon scoring a hat trick 😆 And Darren/ Sharon Wood scoring for Boro.

Not to mention Gordon Davies scoring for Fulham. Must have been one of his last goals for them before we signed him.

They are unbelievably low attendances. We always turned out for some games but we still had home  crowds of 12,O00 and 13,000 that season.

The season before that our average gate was just 12.000 no doubt bolstered by a few large attendances. But those crowds are so poor in your post that I'm amazed .

It was almost impossible to ban fans back then with pay on the day entrance, no tickets or I.D. required. Wolves tried it but failed. I'm sure no one wanted the violence that accompanied our support, we all thought it was a laugh, but looking back our behaviour was shameful really

Very. clean pair of feet. Shame about the tache!

Remember seeing the Leeds Service Crew, on their way to Arsenal in the Cup probably 83. All vaulting the Underground ticket barrier at Kings X. Moustache central.

Guy called Mark Worall tweeted this the link wouldn't work properly no point showing this to our younger (new) fans they will never understand.

If you'd told 24 year old me stood on The Shed here in the mid 80s that I'd see future Chelsea win 31 trophies & become Champions of England, Europe & the World & then asked me if would I complain too much about a rubbish 2022/23 season, I would have laughed & said no. KTBFFH

He's a well-known Chelsea author. This is one of his many books (which isn't about this website):

The internet killed off most fanzines I know there's a Chelsea one still going it's name escapes me. I used to go to Sportspages in the Charing Cross Rd every couple of months great shop long since closed.

The Chelsea fanzine you mention is called cfcuk. It's put together by Dave Johnstone, who's co-author of the book I linked to above. He's written a few other Chelsea books, such as this one (not read it, so can't say if it's any good, but he's a very good, incredibly knowledgeable writer):

Sportspages was a fantastic shop. Shame it couldn't survive.
