Would like to know anyone stories of west ham away 81 and home 80. I went home 84 and they got smashed out the shed so bad the bovril gates come off it's hinges. 5-3 away they had a go but in small numbers and got battered again.

Went to rangers Celtic I think 85/86 4-4 pissed down with rain -5 wow that is a derby to go to even now. I think mcoist got a hatrick and mclloud got a 25 yard equaliser. Even the 70 year olds were having a go funny as f**k. I think that was same weekend as the full members against city which I come back down for.

80 at home, really hot day, west ham try to take the shed in small groups and get mullered. However all of those in the west stand benches and in the north stand move towards the shed. But the game is over.Outside it is Chelsea who get mullered and to top it all Wilkins scores an own goal in the last minute and we lose 1-0 The game in 84 west ham were in the west stand, gate 13 and of course in the north stand, but not in the shed.

West Ham in '84 was the best mob I ever saw at Chelsea, as you say they were everywhere.  There main mob was in the West Stand which was where our lot usually were as well as Gate 13 in those days and they left before the end and soon after came into the Shed up the main stairs and the Bovril at the same time.   They never got far in though as Chelsea where waiting.

They came in shed about 85 minutes from the west stand. I would say maybe 500-700 and got hammered big time back out. I was west side shed and the back walk way was a mass off Chelsea falling over themselves to kick the c**ts out. Can you remember the gate coming off?

What fascinates me about the 81' away game as per carshaltons cut out, is we all decided to meet around Chelsea and travel to the sh*t hole in numbers. By all accounts there was a lot of succes off the pitch. The thing I love about this club is even in the sh*t times our support was over such a vast area of the south east there was never really a big meeting place where we would all meet up and go to the London derbies.

Eastville home of Bristol Rovers, reminds me of sb, gutted i never got to go there.

i think Chelsea got led out underneath the stand on the left and by the open end there was a motorway.

I never went to Eastville but saw it  a few times as a kid on the way to my aunts in Bristol. Would love to have gone there looked like a proper old school experience. Wasnt it that far end that Millwall were trying to take in the famous Panorama programme?

I was in the Shed in 1980. Loads of Spammers all over, just spontaneously starting fights knowing they were massively outnumbered- mental. As Tony Hateley says, Graham Wilkins scored a very late own goal to lose us the game. As we left the ground, West Ham ran at the fans, very few of whom stood up to them, and there were a lot of very battered fans lining the Fulham Rd.

When I finally got on the tube from Fulham Broadway, I somehow found myself in a carriage with Spam fans, and I think I was the only Chelsea fan in there. I somehow managed to conceal my scarf under my shirt, but absolutely shat myself until I managed to get off.

backbiter is totally right especially about after the game against west ham it was the first time i've ever been run at chelsea i came out of the bovril entrance and just saw loads of geezers running at us,there's a picture on this forum of west ham in the shed they were penned in by the benches but that's as far as they got,the return game was just as hairy me and my mates got locked out everyone at that game was wearing west ham colours except us we were standing by a car and someone from some flats started shooting at us with an air rifle,we got in for the last 15 minutes or so we lost 4-0 and we had the corner bit of the southbank which considering how much we took everywhere else was pretty poor really

West Ham away 1978, 15 years old and I was in the South Bank with my mate with chelsea scarf

around my neck and silk scarf on my wrist(bit stupid I know but thought I would be ok as had no problems before). 2.55 and some proper big lumps start the "united" chant. Everyone scatters and the next thing I know I am being kicked to f@@k by some 30 something lump with a donkey jacket. No Chelsea response and very poor following that day. I spent the rest of the game on my own in the corner sh*tting myself. Lost 3-1 as well! Always hated them after that. Sick f@ckers beating up kids!

Football supporters of a certain age can be forgiven by being a little bemused by the modern Stamford Bridge - it was certainly a very different ground in the 1980s. Here, Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Martin Hodge dives the wrong way as Micky Hazard scores with a penalty for Chelsea in 1987

chelseaden you asked for storeys about west ham in 1980 and me and backbiter told ours i was 14 at the time with my mates some even younger so when you see and i don't like saying it chelsea running to a man did you expect me and my juvenile mates to stand there and go toe to toe with west ham and even if we stood there west ham being the horrible lot they are would have battered us regardless of our age and i've followed chelsea all over the country and europe so don't talk about the chelsea spirit to me mate

Love that picture. I'm try to work out when it was taken. The old North Stand was demolished in '77 or 78, I think, so I'm guessing it must have been early in our first season back in the 1st division, as the away support looks very good. It could be the Palace FA Cup game in '76.

Got to be earlier than that mate, the East Stand is a building site with not much built yet, so my guess is 72/3 and given the size of the crowd I'd have to plump for either Leeds, Arsenal in the cup or Man Utd last day of the season and Bobby Charlton's last game.

Oh yes, didn't look at the right side too closely! Maybe not that Man U game, as there's too much grass for an end-of-season fixture! Definitely a team in red, judging by the away support.

The East Stand opened in August '74, I think, and it's nowhere near finished in that shot.

I don't think it's the Charlton game, the pitch wasn't mowed for that one.
