Vintage Blues pictures and film

Rangers players are High Burns, Craig Paterson, Dave McKinnon and goalie Nicky Walker. Not a vintage Rangers side it has to be said...

Thanks for posting that mate as I was at that game.

In truth,it was a boring match when (it was shown live on the BBC) in a time live football was first shown on television.......so not much has changed there then!.

You can see the difference's between a newly promoted side & one that went on to win the title but, unlike today, the gap wasn't that huge.

In fact, the most lively part was when comedy hair cut scouser d**khead John Bailey, squared up to Paul Cannoville with his teammates all around to protect him.

Always wondered what he said to Canners to provoke such a reaction.

No probs mate. Glad you liked it.

I like vatching vintage Blues matches and vintage football matches in general.

I was at that game, in the North Stand with the Rangers fans - brilliant atmosphere!

Teams that night, 16 May 1985: -

Chelsea - Niedzwiecki, Lee (Shearer), McLaughlin, Jones, Rougvie, Nevin, Spackman, Thomas, Canoville, Dixon, Speedie

Rangers - from Walker, Burns, Dawson, MacKinnon, Paterson, Durrant, McMinn, Russell, Johnstone, Munro, Williamson, McCoist, Ferguson, Redford

Goals by Kerry Dixon, Duncan Shearer and Hugh Burns (og) - Ian Durrant and Ally McCoist.

Not the strongest Rangers side, I'll agree, but at least Ally Dawson, Bobby Russell, Ian Redford, an aging Derek Johnstone, and the young Ian Durrant and Ally McCoist were playing. I think the only first team regulars missing were Davie Cooper, Dave McPherson, Cammy Fraser and Robert Prytz.

Rangers had a poor season in 84/85, finishing 4th in the league, the only success being in the League Cup. The following season was even worse, finishing 5th in the league and winning f*ck all.

Blimey, where do you get these from Carshslton? :)

Lol most are mine mate but some like the recent pics are sent to me by mates who are on fb & twitter becasue they know what an anarak i am when it comes to old pics ect lol!

I get very nostalgic when i walk past the gate that is locked up at FB station....I remember the many years walking up the stairs to that gate, giving the inspectors sixpence or whatever, and telling em i got ON the train at a closer station than where i did get on...Any money they collected stayed in their pockets anyway so everyone was happy
