I get very nostalgic when i walk past the gate that is locked up at FB station....I remember the many years walking up the stairs to that gate, giving the inspectors sixpence or whatever, and telling em i got ON the train at a closer station than where i did get on...Any money they collected stayed in their pockets anyway so everyone was happy

 

I know what you mean, I lived in Mitcham so I used jump on a bus then get the train in from Wimbledon. The inspectors must have thought I was a right lazy b*stard getting on the train at Parsons Green every fortnight

They never inspected your ticket (sort of chunky cardboard in those days) hundreds of chanting herberts rushing towards them up the wooden stairs and barging their way out onto FB. I always wondered what they thought as packed trains full of chanting Chelsea literally bounced into the station from Earls C.

Not a shiny seat, face paint or jester hat in site(sigh)

I like the team photo with the man with the butchers coat on ( Alas not embelished with Ossie is King or Chopper Harris markings) and also Tommy at the gates ( used to get my 10 Picadilly in the newsagents before a game)

Im pretty certain thats me walking along the bottom with the leather jacket and faded jeans. We spent the game sliding on that muddy bank. Dixon got 4 if thats the game.
