yeah, all the ones who used to give him dog's abuse. I haven't read his book but I'd be surprised if the racism from Chelsea didn't get a mention.

Remember running on from the benches at 4-0 and stupidly went back instead of staying by the East stand. Missed Cannoville's goal standing on the track in front of the benches! Got stopped from going on by O B. Went on at final whistle, remember standing by the dugout looking up at the players in the directors box. Looked across to see Leeds fans with planks of wood smashing lights on the scoreboard!!

How do you know any of those lads in the pic gave him any abuse?  yeah his book does mention it, along with his health & drug problems, he didn't do to bad though seeing as he had 10 kids with loads of different women lol!

I don't,,,don't know if any of em did either...not sure though that having kids all the gaff counts as "not doing too bad" !!...anyway enough of this, you got any more pics mate ?oops, just seen the pensioner one, nice one !

Lol yeah know what you mean mate no doubt the state(us) had to pay for the upkeep of his 10 kids, don't agree with it but he must have had something about him to be able to get that many women to shag him lol!

hey car. Blue...I've got a scrap book indoors that my misses got from charity shop with reproduced news cuttings re Chelsea. It was a b/day present to someone at one time, will try to get some pics of it if I can work out how...tried to PM you this but on a tablet at mo and can't do it, might need some help from you with pics !!

Yes, you must get it. An amazing story, with more lows than highs.

 

I was at his home debut when he came on as a sub (and looked really impressive), and the reaction of so many around me in the Shed was shameful. Everyone talks about his first appearance at Palace when he got horrific abuse, but I'd guess that being viciously abused at your home ground by your own fans must have been worse for him. He certainly opens up in the book about how deeply it affected him, although he seemed to cope with it very calmly at the time (he's a very cool guy).

That picture is so good not only because it shows our fans going bonkers as we celebrated promotion (in the best style imaginable with a 5-0 thrashing of Leeds) and starting a memorable pitch invasion on a massive scale. It also shows that Canoville had won over the vast majority (not all, of course) of the fans - with the help of Pat Nevin, John Neal and Ken Bates, who all openly condemned the racist abuse.

Had the pleasure of meeting Canners in the So-bar a few years ago - he was a class act. 

My dad used to go in the players bar and he told me before that when canners walked in the bar would fall silent. How sad. He told me aswell that he was watching a highlights of a boxing fight can't remember the fighters but it was a white fighter against a black fighter and the white guy knocked out the black guy and Micky droy shouted keep the ni**er down. Micky droy and Hudson serving behind the bar. Crazy stuff.
