Best thread on the Shed End Forum by far! As a 25 year old I love hearing all of your amazing stories and seeing the great pics that you've taken and amassed over the years. I know a few blokes from local who used to go back in the 70's/80's but who for one reason or can't any more, always a pleasure to hear them recounting their tales. It's truly remarkable to see how football has changed as well.

I dunno what season veterans like your good selves think of the younger generations but fear not some of us care about our history!

Another one for the No History Idiocracy:

Re the team photos and others I've seen, I assume they took team photos not just at the start of the season as is the case in recent years. Theyres no leaves on the trees in that shot, and not a lot of grass on the training pitch either

That game at Barnsley, we were in the seats above their firm.  How it didn't kick off downstairs at half time I'll never know as both us and them used the same toilets.  But it did as we walked up the hill going away from the ground afterwards. One of the all time best...................so I'm told.

The preceding pic is the greatest squad we ever had for many reasons

And the following pic shows why it took so long for so many of us to forgive Sexton:

You're right of course. Put it down to a slip of the brain. The pic comes from the same source as the one of Ossie's last game on this 1970-1975 page I wrote a few years ago.

Remember that Barnsley game. They had an open air karzi I remember- even by standards of the day is was horrible. Reckon that was Nov 82. Went up there on my 17th Birthday, wearing me new diamond pringle Id picked up from a golf shop in South Croydon. Happy days indeed

Doesn't get more northern then that. Fields in the background and a stand sponsored by John Smiths

Coincidentally, just the other day I was talking about grounds I've been to in Yorkshire, reason being that my niece was living up there for a couple of years. Leeds of course, and both Sheffield teams, also Rotherham, Hull, and York. What I don't remember is going to  Barnsley. Being the early '80s I reckon I must have done, but I can't remember it to save my life.

If you knew me in the early '80, you'd know why. Nuff said.

The copper could have ferrets down his trousers.

Aye lad appen he could. Wonder if Parky and Dickie Bird were there a right couple of professional northerners those two.

March 6th 1965: Eddie McReadie and Terry Venables armed with snowballs, accompanied by Johnny Boyle and Chopper Harris during a training session at Stamford Bridge:

Looking at Venables, I reckon the cameraman's getting it.
