September 4, 201411 yr Love the comments from Alan Ball at the end, I was at that match too, what a game Edited September 4, 201411 yr by BlueBeard
September 4, 201411 yr That semi final at WHL was great, huge Chelsea turnout totally filled the Paxton end. When Alan Hudson scored a fluke goal in the last minute we went absolutely mental, we were in the League Cup Final! Unfortunately we lost to Stoke at Wembley, but the two games against Tottenham were superb. I was also at the Brighton match, what a day out! I posted my memories on the 2nd leg at WHL, a few months ago. Recall we had loads of lads wearing the White Butcher coats, with slogans etc daubed on them. One of my mates ended up with Dr. Marten imprints on his after the game, having easily been sussed!.
September 4, 201411 yr I was at that match too, what a game The Shed was fantastic that day-highlight of my youth
September 7, 201411 yr The Shed was fantastic that day-highlight of my youth wow, That looked awesome. It will never be repeated these days. Though big games can still be atmospheric in our more enclosed ground
September 8, 201411 yr Goals from Hollins (hate the man myself) Ossie and Chris Garland. I've never seen the Garland goal before it's against Spurs and there seems to be a lot of Chelsea in the Paxton. Spooky seeing Frank Lampard snr. How similar to SFL........ even the goal.

One thing i can remember totally was George Easthams goal............US v STOKE WEMBLEY........
September 8, 201411 yr I have to say that playing against spurs anytime is and must always be my favourite match........Nothing beats this setting up of two tribes against each other in the 70s....I enjoyed spuds away last season especially with the nerves of walking down spud high road with some of our Blues when we got off at BG.....Im old and more like Mr Burns now BUT it makes me feel young again..Im looking forward to them at ours this season and must do the trip to the BRIDGE with or without dough and with or without a ticket...I need to breath this scenario on a yearly (ish) basis to feel good inside....The times i do miss have me in a state of sadness......I hate you spuds.....BUT sort of love you too in a weird way
September 8, 201411 yr One for you then Mike, Hudson at WHL probably around '72. I love the yellow socks and trim, much better than the clunky blue ones we wear these days. Edited September 8, 201411 yr by Peckham Blue
September 9, 201411 yr Huds got cancer now hasnt he ?????...I loved him then and feel very sorry for him now no matter what his critics say...
September 15, 201411 yr A man some will remember , who did his bit for (imo) the greatest squad of Blues ever......Not often mentioned in dispatches...Stuart Houston......Others less mentioned......Mulliigan...Birchinal......Garner......and im sure you guys can add a few more.............Real men playing real footy for twopence.........Im still surprised at the demise of Leeds...What a team they were...teams in those days wouldnt be able to be matched with the lot nowadays...Each and every player from all div 1 sides were tough...They would each and all be sent off after 5 mins nowadays..lol....Still....I must stop coating off the players and some fans of nowadays.....The team are winners of trophys..The fans do the best they can ....The king is dead...Long live the king

September 15, 201411 yr 1962-63 Squad Photo: 1964-65 1965-66: I think I've got the years right. If anyone can correct me, feel free to do so.
September 15, 201411 yr For some reason the first image keeps disappearing, so here it is again, uploaded to imageshack: 1962-63 squad photo
September 15, 201411 yr I think it was 64-65. Tommy Doc had been pushing for the change for a couple of years, so I read, before finally getting his way.
September 15, 201411 yr I wonder if Harry Medhurst's butchers coat in the first team pic has Chelsea graffiti all over the back of it?
September 15, 201411 yr Love this pic, us in yellow & blue=class. There's a lot of cozzers between the White Wall and the Middle was that the norm in the early 70's?. When i started going regularly (78) onwards they used to stand at the back of the Shed and come wading in and nicking people for f**k all.
September 16, 201411 yr Old Bill always stood in that gangway no matter who we were playing. I'm guessing that their explanation was that fans would use the gangway to watch the match from, but the truth is more likely to be that it was easier and quicker to nick lads for no reason when the cops got bored. F*ck Bilko and his merry men!
September 16, 201411 yr The platform thing that Bilko stood in was built around '77 or 78, before that they all used to stand in the gangways and along the back.
September 16, 201411 yr I reckon that platform wasn't built so the OB could keep an eye on the shed; they probably lobbied for it so they could get a better view of the game. My mates Dad used to do Police duty in the shed and he loved it. Money for old rope. Back then I also knew a copper- mate of me Dads, who regularly played for Battersea Ironsides whilst ON DUTY! Nice work if you can get it. Ps what exactly was the point of Police in the shed? Other than the very occasional one on one Chelsea v Chelsea fight, West Ham and Arsenal in the old days, there was nothing to police. Unless you consider knees up mother brown brown a breach of the peace
September 16, 201411 yr There's a lot of cozzers between the White Wall and the Middle was that the norm in the early 70's?. When i started going regularly (78) onwards they used to stand at the back of the Shed and come wading in and nicking people for f**k all. I remember seeing a guy getting kicked out of the Shed for shouting 'Get Bumstead on!'. He might have chucked in the f-word but I don't think so. He literally got chucked out for shouting. Must have been late 70s.

Yeah, I should have mentioned I was talking about the early 70's in my post, hardly ever went in there after that - much more fun in the North Stand :-)
September 16, 201411 yr Great pics –thanks I was born in 1963 and collect anything to do with CFC in that year…ie pics ,programmes etc .Them pictures themselves are classic with the players looking in all directions ,the kits are just the best ever, no advertising, I love the club badges ,the terrace in the back ground, the black boots – I think im going into a “ jumpers for goal posts” moment. The best. In the 65-66 picture what and who is Venables talking to..? Look at Choppers stance, proper fcuk you! Happy days PS re the Man city game picture – why would we be in the away yellow kit if we were at home?
