Great photo. I know football has moved on (and a lot of it is for the better), but that's what I remember about playing and watching football back in the '70's. You would come in absolutely caked in mud and it would go hard on your legs and your mum would throw you in the bath and then go mental when she saw the state of the bath and towels afterwards!

 

Do footballers boots even need cleaning these days?

Remember how you could hit your football boot against the floor and a great big clump of mud with stud holes would come off all in one piece?

 

Aaaahh.....jumpers for goalposts, the smell of horse manure and bovril, stealing a bobby's hat etc.etc.

Nah, it's the Huddersfield game when Kerry scored that ridiculous effort from the left goal line at the Shed end. Pic was in the next home game programme...

Some of those wonderfull names..who noticed the strange integration between both sets of fans

What was that goal like? Never seen it nor heard of it.
