March 27, 20206 yr Currently watching the BT Sport rerun of an April 1983 Big Match. I spent that season in France as part of my degree so I've never seen any of the games. There was a strong Chelsea connection in all the games. The title sequence showed a Chelsea goal at the Shed End, a cracking left drive from outside the box - no idea who scored it or what game it was from. Presumably the season before. I don't think I've ever seen the goal before. Edit: At the end they showed their 12 best goals of that season, one of which was the above goal, a beauty from our skipper from THAT season. Patesy didn't score many! Worth looking out for the footage - never seen it on here. And those 12 goals also included a cracker for QPR from a future Chelsea striker - Clive Allen. Main game was Spuds v Dippers. Seems like Liverpool were already assured of the title, as they were miles clear at the top, and they were awful. Spuds played well and won comfortably 2-0, with Hoddle outstanding. Graham Roberts was also good. Next up was Sunderland v Birmingham, with Mick Hartford winning a pen and heading a late winner. Final game was Southampton v Luton, who fielded an amazing FOUR past or future Chelsea players. Quiz question: name them. They went through the tables, and there we were in the bottom three in Div 2, with three games to play, one point behind Bolton. That weekend we drew at home with Rotherham, who were just below us in the table. Things are looking pretty scary for us! I wonder if we can get out of this...... March 28, 20206 yr I think at the time they had the Stien brothers, Mal Donaghy, possibly Mick Hartford. They signed Tony Godden at some point so he might of played. May have got 3 out of 4
