Installing Shadows of Mordor on my xbox one as we speak.

Give us a shout as to what you think, might be my next purchase I think.

Well, forza horizon 2 is utterly fantastic, and a stunning looking game. Any Xbox oners have to get it.

 

Downloading now! I gotta say the rest of the world must be doing the same thing right now because the download is slooooooow...

game reminds me a lot of the assassins creed to be fair. the combat, how you generally advance in missions etc.

Been playing for around an hour now.

 

I met a captain and we proceeded to duel for around 5 minutes. He kept hurling insults at me as I tried to break his parry. Nothing seemed to work against him. He then stands next to an explosive barrel...

 

I draw my bow and thanked myself for choosing the "Detonation" ability.  

 

9/10 so far.

It's a typical action game. Combos,special moves, assassinations etc.

Shadow of Mordor is a must buy, best game I've played on PS4 by far

The PC version is quite bad apparently.

 

Definitely more of a console game.

I bought the wife a PS4 yesterday so she could play Shadow of Mordor, looks good, combat is vey Arkham like... Think I will pinch from her when she's done.

So its that rhythm combat thing, same as in AC as Joeyn said? Does it have RPg influence too, levelling up, looting etc?

It has levelling. It has 'Talents' and spendable points for different play styles. 

 

It's not really loot, but Captains drop Runes which you can use to alter your weapons. I'm only a couple of hours in and so I can't give you the best anwser but according to reviews, a lot of the features come into play mid-game.

The PC version is quite bad apparently.

Gotta say, despite it taking nearly 5 1/2 hours to download yesterday I am loving this game! This has made racing fun again.

Also I have no idea what the story is so far, it's just seems to be lots of fighting orcs and little else.

I've done a couple. I've been spending most of my time on the online road trips.

You need to follow the story, I've spent time time killing okrs and gaining info on captains to power up my abilities and skill level so only done a few missions of the story.

I'm finding this game to be outstanding tbh.

Played over 15 hours so far of Shadow of Mordor and only 12% through the story lol.

Not been so addicted to a game since Red Dead Redemption, loving this.

I'm going to pick up SOM next week when I get paid. I'm a big LOTR fan and have been waiting eons for a decent game linked to that franchise to come out!

Thankfully this is finally a LOTR game that delivers.

It's basically Arkham City meets Assassins Creed 2 with a bit of Soul Reaver thrown in. All dressed up in a middle-earth setting..
