Any game recommendation?

Just finished playing The Last of Us remastered on PS4, still hands down my all time favourite game and I played through the Left Behind DLC too which I never got on PS3.

Just started on Shadow of Mordor, need to put some more time into it because without upgrades the combat is too simplistic and button mashing early on I (hit, hit, hit, parry... rinse, repeat).

3 games coming out in November I want, Far Cry 4, Assassins Creed Unity and Lego Batman 3... Not sure how I'm going to afford them all but December looks a bit of a dry month for new releases so I'll have to stagger my playing time a bit.

Never played Far Cry, what is the 'gist' of it?

Trapped/abandoned on a island surrounded by wild vicious animals and angry men with guns who are ruled by a nut case of ruler... Little ol' you fights against the odds despite starting out as a bit of a weakling to be a one man army and take down the mother chuggers.

Free roam, lots of little side quests such as animal hunts and bounties but you get to use gliders, boats and cars etc to get around the island(s).

One of those games that if you don't just cain through the main story you can end up investing a fair few hours into and getting your monies worth out of the game.

It's not bad, but I really really loved the old alpha centauri game it's based on. It's not as good

That one was great, I agree, but we are in a minority, Alpha Centauri was the worst selling Civ game.

With Civ Beyond Earth I feel only half of the game was released and the rest will come as dlc... Though that's anything but surprising from EA.

Damn right, Once you get a few abilities the combat is so much more interesting. Shadow Strike being once of my favourite moves.

As much as you're sellung Shadow of Morder to me there's a lot more coming out soon that I'm holding my money back for.

GTA V, Halo and the new Far Cry are all very much at the top of my list.

I'll be giving GTA V a pass, I bought it on PS3 last year and I've not got any desire to go back to it.

GTA Online was a let down for me, the missions were too formulaic and got a bit dull, free roam was okay for pissing around in for 15 minutes but short of winding up other players there wasn't actually much to do.

Asassins Creed Unity and Far Cry 4 are my next two purchases.

It's also by far the best.

While i don't dislike the whole purity, supremacy, harmony thing......I loved the factions much much better. They were so much better than nations/races. The quotes when you researched a tech in alpha centauri was so awesome because you could hear and feel the faction's philosophies. Made it so so so much more interesting and meaningful than the crap quotes in the civ games.

The mind worms and whole psych attack thing was way better than the beyond earth aliens too.

I also like how much more customisable alpha centauri was too. Whether it be messing with game rules or editing factions, alpha centauri was beautifully customisable.

The feel of alpha centauri, while old, was so much better. Much spookier, more alien.

I suspect you are right there.

Unfortunately I doubt the game will ever be as good as alpha centauri was tho.

To be honest, the more I think about it, the more disappointed I am....

Alpha Centauri dripped with personality and you could feel the love and attention put into it. Beyond earth on the other hand just feels like a sci-fi Civ5 with very few brave new changes. Really sad...

PES is out on the 13th Nov for those interested.

Day 1 edition is £36 quid next gen from Shopto and amazon. (Shopto get's you it a day early though).

You get some extras with the day 1 edition like Myclub points, UEFA team of the year player and other stuff.

No option files on next gen though so that might put some off.

I'm undecided on GTA as it stands.

Played and completed it on PS3 but not touched it since last christmas when I got the PS4.

It will depend on the added (if any) content they have for next gen, slightly improved/polished graphics won't really do much for me.

When does the new COD come out? It does look amazing.

4th Nov. Looks good doesn't it. But I'm going to wait until Christmas to get it I think.

More people I know have got or are getting an Xbox one. I was going to go with the PS4 but I dont know anyone with one.

Yeah it makes sence to go with your friends.

I don't know anyone with a Xone as it happens lol.

The new COD does look pretty good (at least better than ghost), but I hate the futuristic stuff. I wish it was modern warfare or a battlefield in the past, rather than the future to be honest. That's why I never got into Black Ops 2 or Ghosts. Like many people, the original Modern Warfare was the best for me.

Uno  - how come you have multiple Xbox's?

The trick is to try and not compare the two, just enjoy Civ BE as it is. Of course I won't play it near as long as I did the older Civ games but as I had very low expectations all in all it's a pleasant surprise and a nice change from Crusader Kings 2.

This is how I approached almost all new games in the past 10 years because as you wrote the games have less and less personality, worse and worse storylines and it's usually all about the graphics, put together from panels to hasten the development and maximise the profit. EA is a serial offender in this regard. I have hope for crowd funding and independent development studios though, I see a future in that model.

I agree, the first modern warfare was class but then they got lazy and the ones that followed were all the same. This one though does look very good.

I had one and my wife had one when we both lived at home. When we moved in togther we just didnt sell either of them.

That is a great deal but im not really in need of another 42" tv. I am on the look out for at least a 50" but I will probably step up the hunt of that in the sales.

You do realise there are hundreds of missions, races, etc online?

I'm getting it on next gen for sure. Can transfer data from PS3.
