Former Italian U21 Piermario Morosini collapsed whilst playing for Livorno

Only 25

RIP

Bloody awful. Saw the video of the incident on youtube, to see the lad fighting to get up and the keep keeling over again is so sad.

Thoughts are with the lads family. RIP.

Jesus sounds awful, too much for me to watch.

My thoughts to his family and friend, poor guy. Rest in Peace.

Wow. Very sad. Not sure if this is relevant, but athletes who push their bodies to the limit aren't necessarily all that healthy. They often do damage, and I think the thickening of the heart muscle is one kind of damage.

How very sad. Terrible for his family. And how lucky Fabrice Muamba is to live and tell the tale.

Sports at a high level is definately not good for the body. What killed him may not have been brought on by his job as a football player though. Sadly it's not unheard of that young people just keel over and die, whatever their profession. Perhaps an autopsy will reveal more.

Very sad indeed for such a young man..condolences...wonder if clubs find it hard to find underlying medical issues? I am sure they have the best equipment and monitoring as any top club would yet something catastophic happened. Also might be interesting to find out how many fans have died of heart attack due to their teams performances.

Awful. I read somewhere today that the ambulance was impeded by someone who'd illegally parked their car at the ground. Hate to be in their shoes.

There is no reliable testing procedure for the condition.

Also there is considerable resistance to scientific methods of monitoring in many parts of European football.

Apparently it was a police car.

Horrible. You can only hope players will take the best care of their bodies there is, nobody wants to die like that.

Apparently, he had a horrendous family life and leaves behind only a mentally challenged sibling who I presumed depended on him. So, so sad.
