He kicks ass on Fifa 2012, turns out he's unreal in real life as well. He's Russian, RA is Russian. We need a RW, he can play RW.

Discuss.

No.

Edit: If you are actually being serious then I'll offer a proper response. I just thought you were knee jerking.

He's a decent winger (I use that term lightly) in a team filled with players he's played with for a long time now, he's a much better attacking mid but even then he does lose the ball. Understandable at times as he goes for risky passes. He's a good player but I really can't see him doing well at a team like Chelsea right now regardless of how much of a suppose fan he is.

Keep an eye on him of course but there are better right wingers out there, even in the current Euro squads.

Why not?

Not a right winger, barely plays there for his club as far as I can recall, would be like sticking Meireles on the wing. Only reason he does a decent job there for Russia is cause he's played with those players for so long. Add to the fact that we don't even need him, we already have equally if not more talented youngsters at the club as it is.

I think he's best when he's just running into the box and getting on the end of moves, he can keep the ball well so it's annoying to see him lose the ball in the centre of the pitch often and sometimes goes for the harder of the two options which while is encouraging at times can also be frustrating.

Not absolutely *needed* but would be a great complement to our squad for me. Physical, hard working, good passer and score goals. Can also play several positions (box-to-box, nr. 10, tiki-taka winger) and is very versatile in his performances.

It definitely isn't like putting Meireles on the wing, ffs.

The reason he does well at RW is due to the attributes he possesses and due to his ability not the fact that he's played with the Russian side for so long

I was exaggerating, tongue firmly in cheek and all that.

And I know all that to but my point still stands, it's his understanding with the players that has allowed him to play well in an unfamiliar role. Obviously his ability helps as well, didn't think that needed pointing out.

He plays the role every time he puts on a Russian shirt (has done since Advocaat came in) so he must've gotten used to playing at RW by now, but I understand the point you're making

More importantly, he's a big fan of Lampard.

Anyone know if Frankie boy is with the team or in Ukraine/Poland cheering them on? Maybe he can drop by the russian team and have a little chat with young Alan?

He looks to be Lampard type player. I see him more of a box-to-box man than a winger. Problem with these Russian players is the lack of language skills and they tend to get homesick in result. Look at Zhirkov and Pavlyuchenko.

If he knows how to speak English he'd do a good job replacing Essien and/or Meireles.

Have not seen anything of him at all really, just 1 or 2 CL games and now this game yesterday.

He looked pretty darn good to me. Has great vision. He wasn't exactly your classic RW though as I'm not sure I even saw him make a run down the wing and swing on in. He kind of sits on the edge trying to pick out players making runs in behind or finding nice little 1/2's with players. He actually looks like he'd suit the Spanish game perfectly, that's why the rumors of Real Madrid wanting him pop up often.

I guess he'd be a nice addition to the squad more so than a RW starter. He'd be a perfect compliment from the bench for Mata. Plus, he's young, 21 in fact.

No, not knee jerking at all. I think he's the ducks. 21 years old and already that good? Whats he going to be like at 26-27? Snap him up now I say.

Madrid will land him. If he puts in more performances like yesterday in this cup, his agent will be buying a nice new yacht AND a large Big Mac meal soon enough.

Linked with him a while back, and I was excited about it. Not sure if he has stagnated a little, but this time around it doesn't seem as exciting.

He did stagnate a bit after the initial breakthrough, when he was really young. Dzagoev even spent a certain amount of time with CSKA reserves couple of years ago when Zico was the manager there.

Dzagoev's clearly a talent, but is inconsistent and needs to mature. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him, but where would he play and how much playing time can he really get at CFC with Hazard, Hulk,Marin, Mata, etc. already on board?

He's young, he's incredibly talented, he's a Chelsea fan and has said he wants to be the next Lampard, and his contract is up in 6 months time.

If we don't make a move for him, we're crazy, IMO.

I will be so annoyed if if ends up at l'arse. Very good player going (apparently) for a bargain. I know we had our fingers burned with Zhirkov and Arshavin hasn't really lit up the PL but if he's available we have to make a move. Sign him up!

Ashavin was more down to his cockyness and fall-out with Wenger and the Arses supporters, I think. When Arshavin was motivated in Arsenal he was in my opinion their best player. Zhirkov just didn't work out, but it didn't help him that he fought with Cole for the left back position and Malouda for the left wing position.

Dzagoev and Jovetic (and Hazard) this summer would make me wet for a long time.

Arshavin's fitness has also been an issue. When he first came over from Russia, he was incredible - 6 goals and 9 assists in his first 15 games. While he almost certaintly wouldn't have been able to maintain that level of production, I've no doubt a motivated Arshavin could have continued to be a hell of a player. Thankfully, that didn't happen.
