Thank you. Will have a look through the documents. Interesting that the documents are on the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) Council website. I think that shows that despite The Bridge being in the Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham RBKC Council will have to be consulted e.g. because of the impact on Brompton Cemetery and the coming and going of builders.

Hi Boyne Part of Everton's spending breach included loans and interest on the new stadium build. Does the PL's profit and sustainability rules include an element of infrastructure spending mate , ?

If thats the case why are so many people crying about our owners and how we've spent a lot on players as if that takes away from a stadium? They are both unrelated, and with the amount of money at our disposal, spending £1-2bn on a new stadium is clearly affordable and they are very willing to get it done. Without any FFP repercussions, the price here isn't an issue

Have to admit that I haven't read the PL's rules in great depth. I probably should do but delving into the ins and outs of accounting would probably bore me to death. I worked in the Civil Service and trying to get around Government accounting was a nightmare.

This will keep costs down and stop any protests from the CPO group. My guess is we might get to 58-59k seats. I agree but not sure that will get us to 58-59 K capacity. With regard to hosting additional events to boost revenue, I can’t see local residents being delighted at the prospect of say, rock concerts being staged on their doorstep. They’d probably prefer it if the football club moved elsewhere. They’d be setting up action groups and moaning like f**k. Rich turds.

Basically a very asymmetrical design, due to the limitations of the available space. I don't think this was that obvious from the 3D images that were in the media at the time. Quite a clever design from Herzog and de Meuron to fit a 60K stadium into the Stamford Bridge footprint as it is a significantly smaller area to play with than what was available to Arsenal and Spurs. Such a fantastic design. Would have been spectacular.

It could be so much better if they extended it over the railway line, and I'm sure a rebuild could easily add a few thousand seats, to go with extended rebuilds behind each goal.

Time flies. Think that indebted us to 3 million in 1975, which equals about 23 million now. Then we got relegated, cue headlines for the next 5 years about Dept Riden Chelsea, Sleeping Giants Chelsea…etc
March 28, 20242 yr East upper just hasn’t got it , if you want a drink at half time , you got to leave and miss vital Minuit of first half and get back missing few minuets of second half . Great view but catering way behind times. went to spurs away had 2 pints and toilets - didn’t miss a Minuit and I play to the whistle.
March 28, 20242 yr I’ve got west lower against Burnley and it’s the same tbh que up for a drink and you could miss Minuits of second half. Will stay in my seat and go for a drink next day . £66 a seat Saturday , don’t want to miss any of the game.

Years back there were two morons pouring pints- kept serving people out of turn- geyser next to me was giving them a hard time - Pinky and Perky he called them, which made them reluctant to serve him- eventually them handed him one they’d already poured. ” f**k off. You’ve probably been bathing your plonkers in that “
March 28, 20242 yr Always enjoyed a half time drink. Quite a social scene, particularly at away games

I remember reading a quote from Ken Bates about the East Stand (which I can't find online). He said something like 'That stand is a monument to bad design', and highlighted the failure to incorporate decent facilities, from modern dressing rooms, to offices, to fitness rooms, to hospitality etc. It wasn't just that it nearly bankrupted us and wrecked the club for over two decades. It was a missed opportunity to give the club a lot more than just seats to watch a game. I'd be happy to see it replaced with something bigger* and better. * Bigger in terms of capacity. I know there are restrictions on the height of the structure.
March 28, 20242 yr Surprised the clubs haven’t asked for longer half times to increase the rip off opportunities. i don’t expect you could pay the bar staff any less legally in the west lower but they so slow to serve. thing is and I think it’s an age thing after the cobra , marler estates , Ken bates era but I’m pleased with the cpo situation. also read somewhere about the steep rake in east upper probably wouldn’t be allowed these days , so could be difficult to increase capacity. tbh I really want to stay at the bridge , something about the whole journey to the game.

My old man used to love the top tier. Before The West Stand was rebuilt, you could see the floodlights at Craven Cottage. My Mum came with us only once-,she got vertigo in the top tier, left after 10 minutes, met us at the motor with a new lampshade she purchased on New Kings Road. Remember being up there v West Ham 1980- was transfixed by the action in Shed by the Tea Bar- pocket of West Ham got in early- Chelsea were above them and for the course of the game police separated the two, with the odd skirmish every ten minutes or so…” Old man…stopping looking at the Shed, there’s a game going on down here” Love the view East from the window at the very top looking across our great city- night games you’d sometimes see activity with people up to no good on the gravestones at Brompton Boneyard. Good nightclub underneath “ Under The Bridge” Spent numerous times there over a 35 year period. Not the most practical stand but would be sad to see the old girl go
March 28, 20242 yr My first games in 1979 , dad used to leave me autograph hunting while he went to the pub. players used to give me tickets for east lower , dad was happy , I was gutted I wanted to stand on the shed.

The Spammers were just randomly punching people stood right next to them, and obviously then got a real kicking as they were in small groups of two or three. They must have thought it was worth it. After the game (which we lost to a last-minute Graham Wilkins own goal), the West Ham mob ran at the Chelsea fans emerging from The Shed. In all my years of going to the Bridge I've never seen scenes like it, with badly injured people all along the Fulham Road. I eventually made my way to Fulham Broadway, and had a very scary tube ride, as I somehow found myself in a carriage of jubilant West Ham fans. I kept my head down and noticed my scarf was just visible below my jacket. If it had been spotted I would have been torn apart.
March 28, 20242 yr Mate me being 11 at the time , after the matches we got the tube to Victoria and West Ham used to be waiting . They used to ask me the Chelsea result as luckily I was just a kid. used to be a lot of Chelsea on the Victoria to Canterbury train. Scariest thing happened to me was against Preston and they didn’t close the metal gate at Fulham Broadway , crowd surged and I saw the train coming , thank you so much whoever dragged me back onto the platform.

Remember at Fulham Broadway Eastbound Platform, they were doing Knees Up Mother Brown- train was bouncing around so much though it would fall off the rails. On our Wimbledon bound platform there was a one on one fight with a ginger skinhead and some other chap- got the impression they were both CFC, probably with some history between then- platform opened up and let them get on with it- good old scrap- West Ham on opposite platform gave it a round of applause

Yeah I remember Bates moaning about the lack of money making facilities , not enough luxury boxes, corporate stuff etc. But it looks like there's stuff been built out onto the back ? Or maybe it's always been that way !I can't see us building anything bigger in capacity though, it's enormous. I'm thinking of moving to East Upper next season, can't get on with standing up in MHL anymore.. If I remember there's obstructed views right at the back with concrete pillars? I've given up on a H/T beer, it's hard enough going for a slash ! Edited March 31, 20242 yr by The Rising Sun Info

No, not West Lower, We came out of there because of the huge tourist concentration and total lack of atmosphere. We went to Shed Upper 😉
