Chelsea United

Come on guys let's not piss about, Jose's coming and we all know it.

What does he have to prove?

No trophies last season, is he a man on the wane?

Can he resist poking rival coaches in the eye?

No CL at Madrid, can he win the CL at Chelsea?

He's 50 years old, he's certainly never going back to Spain, could this be his last club gig, will he be less restless and finally stay at a club longer than 3 years?

Flawed, yes, most certainly, but he'll go down in history as one of the best ever. If he wants Chelsea to be his last club gig we could be laughing, because he will want to ensure his trophy haul bears comparison with other great managers of the past.

The fact that he has things to prove bodes well in my view, as it will make him even more determined to silence the doubters and shove it down people's throats.

His solidarity with Chelsea will be strengthened because he's adored here whereas he's unwanted at Real. The fact that we never accepted Rafa will have pleased him no end too.

If he and Roman have had fruitful discussions, and with Terry and Lampard acting as his lieutenants within the squad, and with the fans fully onside and the press fully against us, we could, finally, be all pulling in the same direction.

Roman will now know not only is winning the Prem difficult without Jose, top four without Jose is by no means a formality either, and FFP now makes that an imperative. By the same token I can't see Jose wanting to manage a club outside England again.

This is where he wants to be this is where we want him to be.

There's going to be so much love flying around on day one of the new season, from the boardroom to the dressing room to the stands.

Chelsea United?

How long will it last .. ?

Everything depends on Roman as far as longevity is concerned. I have no doubts Jose wants to stay for the long term and dominate like United have under Ferguson (maybe not for as long mind) but we know what RA is like

What makes you have no doubts?

What makes you have no doubts?

Mostly because of how miserable he's been in Spain, ok the no doubts thing might not be the right thing to say but from the rumours and the fact he's never quite been as happy as he was here adding to that Fergie retiring I'd say he wants the job long term.

Hmm i see what you mean but i think it will be another 3 years then off again,i think he wants to win the league in France or Germany still yet.

I don't think he's all that interested in the French league or the German league.

Jose won't stay for 10 years never mind 20. He's a journey man. Besides he wants to manage Portugal and retire some way early.

He won in portugal, england, spain and italy. If he is journey man, why is he coming back to Chelsea? He could go to PSG, Monaco. Anzhi etc. I think he is back to make something like ferguson, okay, its to much but couple of years he shoud stay here.  That shoud be his new challenge. in 8,9 years. He will maybe coach portugal, maybe.

Maybe, depends on how well it's going here. I really hope we win a European Cup with him.

What's the longest he stayed at one club?

3 years i think

Exactly. I don't believe he will stay for 10 years we would do well getting 5 out if him. I'd love a manager for 10 years plus we need the stability but I can't see Jose staying that long. Time will tell

He's record shows he's a journey man it's what he does proves a point then moves on. Let's not forget the season he left we weren't exactly playing well.

He has said he wants to manage for another 15 years. That would take him up to retirement age, 65 (and once he gets to 65 he may have a change of heart ala Fergie). Sure, he wants to manage Portugal but that will be at the end of his career. There's no reason why he won't want to stay at Chelsea until then, the emphasis being on "he" (not Roman) and "want" (we don't always get what we want). Going back to Spain is out of the question, Italy is a far weaker league than England and Spain, whereas Germany and France aren't half as competitive as England (there are way more easy games).

You never know, Roman may have told Jose he wants to promote youth and wants a manager for the long haul, and that may well have appealed to Jose, after all, after his experience in Madrid, he may genuinely feel an attachment to Chelsea that he might not otherwise want to forsake.

I'm not convinced Jose can do it over a sustained period because he has never proved he can. If he wants to allay those doubts I'll be happy if he does it at Chelsea.

It just may be a case of everything fitting together ..

Then again, this is Chelsea.

Gonna be hard to say until we hit a rough patch.

I think this is v important. The football press will have a collective orgasm when JM returns but, thereafter, they'll be as happy with a 'Chelsea struggling' story as with anything else.

I say this because, while there is a consensus about wanting JM to return, it won't be all plain sailing and, respectfully, CFC fans are going to have to keep their nerve during the bad times. It only takes a short run of poor games to prompt some fan (of any club) to panic and 'phone 606 with a 'JM out' type-call.

I say all this because I wish CFC well and am concerned about the danger that, should JM return, people will have sky-high expectations for his first season.

What do other Shedenders think that CFC and JM will achieve in his first season back?

I don't care much about trophies and success in the first season if he comes back.

I would just like to see some stability.

I would like to see us and Roman stand by our manager and players even when they fail.

But the way the club treated, first Ancelotti, and then Di Matteo scares me and makes me feel that no one will be good enough anymore.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'd just like to see stability for a while...

I agree. Having a manager for an entire season sounds like such a novel concept. Imagine having the same manager for two seasons in a row. I think my mind would explode... :happy001:

Second in the league and one trophy. That'd be quite a good achievement too.

Our second season? The treble, that's including the title.

You heard it here first.

I think after the season we've just had, most people would just be happy with Jose still being here at the end of the season.
