Season Expectations

Featured Replies

Pretty straight forward, a few questions on your season expectations.

I probably could've stuck this in a poll format, but I prefer reading responses rather than bar charts, so just go for a copy and paste job. Get involved if you fancy!

What Competition Do You Consider The Main Priority?

Premier League (Final Position?)

Champions League (What Stage?)

FA Cup (What Stage? Is It A Priority?)

Would A Season Without Silverware Be A Failure?

The Most Important Thing About The 2013/14 Season Is?

What Competition Do You Consider The Main Priority? Premier League

Premier League (Final Position?) Winners

Champions League (What Stage?) Semi

FA Cup (What Stage? Is It A Priority?) Final. Depending on the opposition I'd expect some of our younger. Players against weaker sides. If we get to the Quarter finals

I'd expect JM to go all out to win it.

Would A Season Without Silverware Be A Failure? With my current expectations on JMs return I'd say that a season without silverware would be very disappointing. However if we play good football, improve on last year and are in the running for most competitions, I'd take it.

Champions League (What Stage?) Depends on who we get in the knockout rounds. If we were to get say, Bayern in the 1st knockout then it would be understandable to get knocked out then, but with a easyish run of games, we should get to the business end ,again.

FA Cup (What Stage? Is It A Priority?) It's our cup, we might as well win it. Not the main priority, but we should still go at it, full force.

Would A Season Without Silverware Be A Failure? Yes, of course it would. We are a young team building, but there is more than enough quality in the team to win something.

What Competition Do You Consider The Main Priority?

Premier League

Premier League (Final Position?)

Ideally 1st, but major contenders would be my minimum expectation. The top teams will all strengthen, and there's rarely an easy game in the league, but we have enough quality (even if it is a young/developing squad) to expect to be there or thereabouts by the end.

Champions League (What Stage?)

Out of the group stage as a minimum. Knockout stages obviously depends on the draw. We're not one of Europe's heavyweights at the moment, but we look to be developing towards that again.

FA Cup (What Stage? Is It A Priority?)

Hopefully winners, but it's difficult to predict. The least important of the three main competitions, but definitely one I'd expect a good showing in. We've got quality depth to allow us to keep using fresh players in multiple competitions, so there's no reason why we can't make a good showing.

Would A Season Without Silverware Be A Failure?

Not necessarily. The team has a lot of quality, and should be capable of beating anyone on their day, Jose will make sure the players know that. No silverware would be disappointing, but not a disaster, as this team is only going to get better. Huge potential.

Re-establishing ourselves as a dominant force in the league. Building towards becoming a dominant force in Europe.

What Competition Do You Consider The Main Priority?

the league

Premier League (Final Position?)

As a fan, I would settle for 2nd place along with stability with the new and younger players gaining necessary experience to build on. I think Mourinho will aim for 1st though and will encourage the players that they are capable of it, just like reports of what he did the last time around.

Champions League (What Stage?)

I think we can have a better chance in the Champions League due to its format. Probably QF/SF would be a suitable target.

FA Cup (What Stage? Is It A Priority?)

Finalists and winners. It is a priority in terms of giving the team a mental boost and a winning mentality. I would also say we should win the league cup as well.

Would A Season Without Silverware Be A Failure?

No, I don't believe it will be. The team can perform well during the season but still end up trophy less. Luckily for us, Chelsea has a great motivator/psychologist/coach in Mourinho and he can encourage, support and give constructive criticism to the players if they end the season without a trophy.

Learning and consistency. Probably seeing key players like Hazard and Oscar really hit their stride, they were good last year and in glimpses they showed the type of players they can become on a regular basis.

Top 2 in the Premier League and the quarterfinals in each of the cup competitions we enter.

We are not the top dogs in Europe however there is a clear gap in class between City, Chelsea and the rest of the league.

Winners

Champions League (What Stage?)

As well as possible, luck always plays a large part

FA Cup (What Stage? Is It A Priority?)

Treat with respect with squad selection. Try our best. We love winning this. Same goes for League Cup. Remember how winning that in 2005 pushed us on to our first league win in 50 years?

Would A Season Without Silverware Be A Failure?

No, as long as we compete

Premier League

Premier League (Final Position?)

Top 4.

Champions League (What Stage?)

Knockout stages.

FA Cup (What Stage? Is It A Priority?)

Semi final/final. It's a priority due to our history.

Would A Season Without Silverware Be A Failure?

I still see this as a transition season, that's not to say we can't win anything but doing so would be a bonus not an expectancy.

The Most Important Thing About The 2013/14 Season Is?

Stability.

What Competition Do You Consider The Main Priority? The League. To dent both Manchester teams in their managers first seasons is a must.

Premier League (Final Position?) 1st

Champions League (What Stage?)

Tough one really. At least the semis

FA Cup (What Stage? Is It A Priority?)I think we could win it. But like the CL its tough to call.

Would A Season Without Silverware Be A Failure? Im sure the board would think so. Me? Im just happy we have Jose back and i hope we can have the same manager for the next 5 years at least.

The Most Important Thing About The 2013/14 Season Is? Making us the most feared team in England if not Europe again. Getting back to the good old Jose days of going to games and expecting to get the right result.

What Competition Do You Consider The Main Priority?

League, it's always the biggest testament to just how good of a team you are.

Premier League (Final Position?)

I would like to think we'll give a good account of ourselves in the title race, not sure if we will win it. Should we sign Rooney, I think it's the final piece in the puzzle but even without him I think we can push United and City.

Champions League (What Stage?)

Quarter or Semi-Finals is my gut feeling but a huge slice of luck is always required so you never know.

FA Cup (What Stage? Is It A Priority?)

We always give a good account of ourselves in the FA Cup I would think we will reach the semi-finals minimum but can never rule us out from winning it.

Would A Season Without Silverware Be A Failure?

Yes because we should always be striving to win things. Last year was a very turbulent season but we still come out of it with a trophy. This is very much a transitional season but I still think we can win something.

The Most Important Thing About The 2013/14 Season Is?

A unity in the club. That goes for players, management, board and fans.

Last season was horrible at times and is the most disillusioned I've felt with the club in the 17 years I have supported them.

I'm looking forward to Stamford Bridge having a positive, vibrant atmosphere again and for opposition teams to once again dread the thought of coming to us.

We should be in all of these to win them, the outcomes will be determined by many factors but the mindset of all the players, coaching staff, manager, Club and the fans should be a winning one.

The last two seasons have resulted in poor league campaigns and we need to get back to becoming serious title contenders, so EPL is a priority for me and at least one trip to our second home - Wembley.
