Who, out of this current Chelsea squad, would go down as a "legend" for you? We all know "legend" is possibly the most overused word in football (apart from maybe 'flop' or 'disgrace') but who would you describe as a legend if they were to retire now? There are a couple of obvious ones of course.

Cech, Terry and Lampard are certainly going to retire as legends of Chelsea. There are 1 or 2 that could also be added but i am not 100% sure on them just yet.

There's another tier of legends for me, for guys who stood up to the plate in the very biggest of occasions and will be forever remembered for it

Ivan - the goal that brought us life in the champions league

Ivan and and that goal in the champions league turned everything on its head. plus his winning header in the Europa . In my mind he will be a Chelsea legend , still has a lot to prove

Currently for me it would be Lampard, Terry and Cech. I think Brana will be remembered as a great but im not sure he will be talked about with the likes of Zola and Osgood etc. As for the others im not sure about any of them yet. I think Cahill might get there also. I would have said Luiz but i dont think he will be with us long enough to reach that level.

Cech,JT,Lamps for me but others have time on their side.

Terry Lampard Cech no question. They have even achieved it whilst still playing for us.

In addition to those already mentioned, Ashley Cole. Really took his game to the next level with us and became the best left back on the planet for a while. Absolutely brilliant player.

If he continues the way he has played for at least another four seasons, I think Mata's name will be said in the same breath as Zola.

Torres will be remembered alright but not in the same way as Zola, Osgood, Wise are or Lampard will be.

He will be remembered with the likes of Sutton or Del Horno. Total and utter flops.

For me it takes more than one or two goals to make a player a legend.

Not at all, mate. I just don't think he should be compared with Sutton. There have been far worse strikers at Chelsea than Torres. I see your point about scoring more than one or two goals though.

In my opinion even Sheva and Crespo were better than Torres.

Not sure whether Torres will go down as a legend...on the club's website at least, but one's thing for sure, he will go down in Chelsea folklore forever. The story of Fernando Torres at Chelsea has been an exciting rollercoaster. Would make a good movie perhaps ;)

I agree with Uno on that point. Trying hard doesn't make you a legend but I think I see what point you were making, bd. I would probably give Torres the benefit of the doubt in the legend category but I can see why some wouldn't.

I can see your point about Crespo. He was more consistent and I would've preferred if he stayed. Don't think 'he should be called a flop. Sheva...it's fair to say if he was given as much time as a Torres was, it would've been a similar story but I think even Shevchenko out scored him in his first 40 games (I think).

Strikers who weren't as good; would have to say Fleck, Sutton, Kezman, Pizarro, Mutu (although he had his moments)
