So who blinks first

Featured Replies

Well here we are a couple of games over half way and a very tight race at the top with all of the top teams winning with Arsenal probably picking up a win tomorrow. Is this a case of who 'who blinks first' loses the title?  When do you think we see a couple of teams pull away from the top 5 or 6 who are largely all in with a chance?  Liverpool and Everton just not going away and neither are Arsenal by the way they are all playing.

We've played most of the hardest away matches already, only City and Liverpool to come.  Arsenal and City have still got a lot of tough grounds to visit.  I think we're in a pretty good spot.  Those three will be the top three anyway.  I'd be hugely surprised if Liverpool or Everton get higher than 4th.  That's a whole different battle going on.

We have a couple of games against the Manchester clubs coming up which will be massive results. Those who think Utd are going to be a walkover please don't tempt fate. I actually feel more confident going to City than if we were at home, but they will be an absolute handful, but they can be got at. I honestly can't see past us Citeh and possibly the pool unless le arse make a decent signing up front.

I think Liverpool and Everton will drop out the race first with Arsenal starting to bottle it with 5-8 games left, leaving us an City to fight it out, pending a disaster, City's goal difference might be the killer in the end though.

We (City) look next level at the moment. Our understanding is telepathic. At home we are unstoppable. people will site our away form as a weakness, but that's over in my opinion. Since our last away defeat we have won 5 and drawn1... The best away form in the league over the last 6 away games. We might not be destroying sides on the road, but we are picking up the wins. The thing that has really impressed me though is how every one is chipping in with the goals. We haven't even noticed the best player in the league being out for a month.

It's between City and Chelsea for me. Arsenal can't keep this pace . You guys give me real cause for concern though. Jose is a true winner in every sense of the word and he instills that into his teams. I laugh at those who say he isn't the same this time around. 2 in the league by 1 point and still in the major cup competitions isn't exactly bad is it! You're hitting real form, playing some very good football and racking up the wins at exactly the right time from your point of view.

I do think City will win it, but it will be damn close and it will be nervy stuff right to the end.

City do have the harder away fixtures though with you having to play Arsenal,Utd,Liverpool,Everton and Spurs all away but you do have the best squad/starting 11 in the league and in terms of age of the the team is in its peak City should win the league.Im with SkyBlue i think its between us and City.

I think depends on the status of the squads going into the final 10 games, City, Arsenal and us are involved in CL and still in the FA Cup, Everton don't have the squad, neither do Liverpool but they are only in two competitions so it depends which one they fancy winning and in which basket will they will put their eggs.  I think both Liverpool and Everton will more than happy with securing a CL place and winning the FA Cup they know they don't have the depth or experience that City and Chelsea do.  City will go 'hung ho' for the lot, they should win the Capital One easily enough, and they have a good shot at the CL, depends on the draw for the FA Cup, but has Pelligreni got nous for the PL having not been there before, or will Jose' have the better strategy at picking up points when it gets down to the 'vinegar strokes'?

I have you as slight favourites, followed by us then Arsenal.  I didn't think Arsenal had it in them but they continued to prove me wrong so now I concede that they've got their sh*t together this season.  I make you slight favourites because your squad is just stronger than ours at the moment, but we have the better manager!  It'll be an interesting run in that's for sure.  At least we're up against the proper mancs this time.

Either way, one of us has to win it.  I don't think anybody wants to deal with Arsenal's smugness if they managed to beat both "sugar daddy" clubs to the title.  It'd be insufferable.

Four of our next six league matches are at home and it's vital that we come close to picking up 12 points from those games.

The away game against City on Feb 3rd is a must not lose game for us. I think if we come away with a draw we'll be happy.

Looking at City's upcoming fixtures I don't see them dropping many points, although Spurs away you would be hopping they draw or lose that one.

Other than that it's Cardiff, Norwich and Stoke they have which takes them up to the end of February so we need some miracles there.

Liverpool and Manchester United back to back at the start of February for Arsenal is where you would imagine they would drop points if anywhere.

The awful disallowed goal at St. James's yesterday made me think that perhaps this year really is City's year, in the same way that United used to somehow get ridiculous undeserved results.

I'm not expecting us to make any major signings, or City for that matter, and based off both our current squads, I think City will take it.

However next season i'd be surprised if we didn't have at least 1 new midfielder and either Lukaku or a new striker, and I think Jose will have had enough time to mold the squad he wants to ensure us another title.

I think if we beat United at the weekend they are finished (not that they were really in it anyway) Everton never had a chance. Liverpool are getting their players fit so will be pushing for the top 4 but i dont think they can win the league. Arsenal will drop off (hopefully). For me i think its between us and City. If we cant win it then anyone but Arsenal and Liverpool please!

I don't see City or Arsenal getting through to the next round in the CL (altough I really hope they do because of selfish reasons :blush2: ), so that will help them in the Premier League. We shouldn't have a problem with Galatasaray so expect us to get a really tough side next round which we'll, of course, try to beat. So we are fighting for the league, FA Cup, and the Champions League, while City should/will be playing for the league and the two cups. Arsenal after Bayern should be playing only on one front, but I'm still not convinced they can do better than 3rd place. Between us and City as most thought it would be at the start of the season. A signing or two now in January can tip the balance to one side or the other. In Mourinho I trust!  ::ChELSeAFaN::
