October 29, 201411 yr He's just not anywhere near Chelsea level. Which is a shame because he is so fast. Edited October 29, 201411 yr by Zola
October 29, 201411 yr I didn't see much difference in him and Schurrle last night. Both have been pretty poor when given the chance recently which is worrying. We have a history of buying these type of players like Salah, Moses, Marin ect for a decent price but they offer very litte.
October 29, 201411 yr Salah has 9 goals in his last 12 games for Egypt so he must have something about him but I just dont think he is that suited to how we play. As I have said before I think he was a club buy instead of a Jose buy. Every now and then the club like to buy a player that scores a couple of goals against us. Pretty poor scouting really but there you go.

October 29, 201411 yr why would we loan him in January? Unless we bring someone else in, why would we let a player leave and water down our squad?
October 29, 201411 yr Cos he offers us nothing and we may as well give his squad place to someone like Boga or Baker?
October 29, 201411 yr Cos he offers us nothing and we may as well give his squad place to someone like Boga or Baker? While that sounds good there is no way we will loan out an expierenced (European, International and League) player in place of an untried and tested kid. It won't happen at Chelsea, not a chance. If he is to be loaned out we will be buying someone else to replace IMO.
October 29, 201411 yr Baker has a squad space with or without Salah being here. I think people are being out of order here, Salah isnt as bad as people are making out. Schurrle was much worse last night and against Bolton.

We will waste cash on a player which will replace someone who went temporary to other club? I don't really think this is the right way to result problems. We've got few young talents which looks very promising. With all these "experience" he doesn't really show that, he also barely playing on PL matches, so I think there's a chance for young players.

I'm being realistic anbd basing it on what has happened here for the past god knows how long. Do you honestly think we will loan out a squad player to just promote a kid from the youth set up? I'd put my house on us looking to bring in another established player than going down that route. It doesn't mean I agree with it but it's what happens.
October 29, 201411 yr Baker has a squad space with or without Salah being here. I think people are being out of order here, Salah isnt as bad as people are making out. Schurrle was much worse last night and against Bolton. I agree. At Least Salah got an assist, Schurrle did nothing at all. Both were as poor as each other but only Salah get's singled out which is strange. Shoudl we not be expecting far more from a world cup winner?
October 29, 201411 yr At Least Salah got an assist, Schurrle did nothing at all. Schurrle made the initial driving run down the right for both goals last night so he did play his part but he was, I agree, poor last night. As I mentioned elsewhere though we're coming up to a year since Salah joined the club and I can't remember one game that he has played well enough to justify the £11m fee we paid for him. I can't see what he offers that Moses couldn't have with the difference being he's taking up a foreign place in the squad. Schurrle started the season well but his form dipped just before in the internal break and this was his first start since returning from having the flu, he was poor last night but he still almost scored one from 25/30 yards out. Okay he had a couple of other shots that were daisy cutters from outside the area but they were on target which is more than than can be said for Salah's efforts. Point I'm trying to make is that although they were equally as bad as each other last night Schurrle's shown he's more than capable of playing well and delivering important goals whereas Salah just seems like he's all pace and little else.
October 29, 201411 yr I agree that Schurrle is and has proved to be a better addition over the piece, would never say otherwise. I just think Schurrle has had more oppertunities than Salah to show this, now that might be down to training better or indeed doing better when called upon earlier. Last night reminded me why I still don't rate Schurrle as a first pick and he is still very raw in terms of being the finished product. I didn't expect fireworks from Salah due to previous outing but Schurrle has to be better. I don't rate Moses at all, maybe he would have been better but I don't know...Jose seemed to agree so who knows really. I don't see a future for Salah if he doesn't quickly improve when he get's a chance and I'm starting to worry about Schurrle...
October 29, 201411 yr Very frustrating performance last night, although he did eventually pull off quite a nifty little assist. Salah seems like a player with great physical attributes, his acceleration is outrageous and he works very hard, but he has very little end product and his decision-making is awful. We've definitely been here before.
October 29, 201411 yr I think a great point has been made here. Schurrle is a world cup winner and imo has only put in one decent effort for us since the world cup and that was against Burnley. I like Schurrle but for me he just isnt putting in good enough effort this season. Maybe he is burnt out or maybe he is still riding the wave of winning the world cup but what ever the reason he shouldnt be starting games for us. The reason I bring this up is because a lot of hate is being directed Salah's way but actually I thought he did better than Schurrle. Salah does take poor shots at goal and that is something he needs to work on but another great point that has been made is he has had hardly any game time with us. We see time and time again when players who are on the outside of the squad come in they work too hard to impress. They will make silly mistakes because they want to impress the boss so they can get more game time. Im sure if Salah and maybe Schurrle relaxed a bit more they would look like better players.
October 29, 201411 yr Something about Salah tells me, he might be sold in January or in the summer. He has not played well for months now.
October 29, 201411 yr He is a confidence player. Looks a bag of nerves at the moment Mourinho subbing him off in his two only two starts can't help as well
October 29, 201411 yr Pssssst I was trying to make some meta-reference to Salah, although I have genuinely heard him referred to as the 'Egyptian Messi'
October 29, 201411 yr I was trying to make some meta-reference to Salah, although I have genuinely heard him referred to as the 'Egyptian Messi' Ah okay, woooosh went over my head. Generation gap, Salah's too young and Giggs is too old for him to be labelled Egyptian Giggs.... But yes I've seen Salah referred to as the "Egyptian Messi", anyone making that comparison is clearly.... (wait for it) In de-Nile
October 29, 201411 yr Still think the lad needs time. He's shown glimpses of quality in matches like the Arsenal 6-0 drubbing but really needs to step it up. Time is definitely running out for him though.
