Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Tremendous display thus far... Seems to be always in a position to score and frankly we have plenty of players willing to feed him passes to have the opportunity to score. Obviously nobody thinks he can do this all season but then each of us think the impossible at the same time. Maybe he puts 40+ on the board and Chelsea simply demolish the league. What really makes me excited is that he is getting amazing balls from a variety of players. Hazard, Ramires, Fabregas, Ivanovich, Matic, Oscar, and even Mikel with a beautiful back heel pass. Mikel ffs is laying out beautiful passes to Costa! Chelsea are looking like all the puzzle is in place but it's a long season. Think Chelsea will be there in the end but certainly it can't be like this way. Can it?

Just keep praying to the football Gods.....sacrifice that inflatable goat!

Hands up,  I was initially a doubter for a number of reasons. Injuries and temprement being my main concerns. I take it all back, he's been a joy to watch so far.

I can't remember the last time a striker has slotted so effortlessly into our team.

Do you feel that you have limited abilities in so far as your predictions are concerned?

What?.....

What?.....

Well...let's see now: someone above reminded us all of the fact that a few here, including you, very much doubted Costa when he was in our sights. In particular, you said (at post #9 of this thread) as follows:

I have a feeling he would flop here and based on what I have seen he has limited ability as a footballer.

Accordingly, I was merely asking you whether you felt you had limited abilities in judging footballers?

Im going to swell right over into hyperbole here, I cant think of a single team EVER that has had as succesful a window (or year with January) as Chelsea. Many have revolutionised their team but spend millions, many have only had a small outlay but not changed their squad significantly. To change the complextion of the squad and have a net sepnd so small is unbelievable.

Costa is absolutely part of that. It almost seems like he is made for the team, I heard Kerry Dixon say the one thing a striker needs is presence, boy does he have it in bucket loads, as did Didier. He occupies defenders mentally in a way we haven seen since Drogba in his pomp creates so much space for Hazard and Fabregas to operate in its unreal. Too often last year I think defenders knew they could ignore Etoo and Torres as they were either not good enough or unable to create chances for themselves, not this year, even if Costa doesnt score I gurantee he give defenders a horrid time and someone else bangs one in. The fact he adds goals to that is the icing on a beautiful cake. I wasnt set either way on him so theres no "I told you so" I hadnt really seen too much of him, although I cant think of too many available strikers who are better looking at the evidence so far.

SO you scrawl the boards looking for posts to prove people wrong based on an opinion they had before the player joined?

I suppose you have done the same for all those who thought Torres would be a good signing too?

If that's how you get your kicks lad then fair play...seems a bit sad to me though.

What I do find tiresome are posters who air their opinions without much knowledge of the material subject & who are either entirely fulsome or entirely dismissive without reservation. It's arrogant, conceited and immature. What's even worse I suppose is the follow up tactic (after being questioned concerning their opinion) is that they become precious & defensive w/o taking the chiding on the chin with a grin or acknowledging their mistake in the first place.

Not sure why you have picked out RFC-CFC on this Youlots - can only imagine he has wound you up in the past?

Come on, we have all made the wrong call at some point or another and coming on this forum and discussing transfers and how we think they will do is all part of it so why trawl back through and make a big thing of it when he has already admitted it looks like he's been proved wrong?

Nibs - I can understand that you may see it that way. You & I for example have been on this board for a long time & have had the odd disagreement but I read & take notice of what you have to say as your comments usually add something to a thread. I just get jaded by the absolutist posts at times & the lack of grace or humour from certain posters when brought to account. I do get riled by banality & stupidity to be sure as opposed to certain posters in particular and perhaps you're right - perhaps I should just let it go & ignore such posters but there is a small part of me that is always hopeful for better outcomes ie. that such posters in being gently chided will think before they post so as to spare us their unconscious dribble.

Fair Enough - I know what you mean and we all get wound up from time to time and sometimes the slightest thing can trigger it.

I'm certainly not going to get in an argument with you as I already have a headache today and if you start coming back with your legal jargon, I fear my head might literally explode!!

You need to get over yourself tbh.

It’s a football forum with fans from all over the place who hold different opinions on many matters including the right players for us.

Many including myself though Costa wasn’t a good fit…we were wrong and I think to a man have admitted it on here.

To have someone try to belittle posters for having an opinion based on what they had seen is pathetic.

No idea what your problem is with me but I don’t have time to massage your ego anymore.
