Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

I think he will be rested as well, I just hope its Remy that plays and not Drogba again. It wouldn't suprise me if Mourinho keeps highlighting Costas injury to prevent him from playing international games :)

The big summer "who's better" Costa V Ballotelli debate on here turns out to have been the biggest one-sided mismatch since Richard Dunn took on Muhammed Ali.

Ballojelly is doing a fine impression of Andy Carroll so far.

I think this is the season were people finally realise that Balotelli really isnt that good. He has bags of physical talent, but it takes more to be a top level striker. He scores the occasional wondergoal, but mostly he is padding his already unimpressive stats against bottom feeders and by taking penalties. So glad Liverpool blew their load on him and not someone whos actually good.

with costa struggling, why not give him tuesday off, and leave him on the bench vs arsenal next week? we have got the Drog after all, so goals against arsenal shouldnt be a struggle ;)

Really hope spain decide he's not worth risking and he can have a full rest during the international break

I cannot wait to see Costa play against Arsenal, he's going to muscle their defenders off the park.

Then when he's bagged his goals and is going off for a rest, we can throw on Arsene's ol favorite Dider to finish the rout.

If this is him playing without training properly and not 100% fit... Imagine when he is at full fitness!

(Although I think Jose is telling some tactical porkies myself to try to avoid Costa getting called up for the international break)

yeah, i mean how can jose say he can hardly do anything in training, yet seemed to be running around fine yesterday.

Well remember King couldn't train at spuds for years.

In my opinion when it comes to availability the only people qualified to make an assessment are the club's medical staff.

It's just ridiculous that managers have to resort to these PR games to avoid Costa copping a penalty from FIFA.

Dafuq?

I think Barak should just pay up now on our bet.

I tell you what I'll do you FC, if for some reason Costa gets an injury that puts him out of lets say 10 prem games of more I'll pay up based on his scoring ratio todate

Strange to have someone you think WILL score in every game.

Costa starts tomorrow then, Jose cant risk not playing him in what is crucial match after the result with Schalke, just glad its a Tuesday game and Arsenal on Sunday so fingers crossed he will be ok and healthy, to be honest i think theres some mind games with this whole Costa cant play twice a week from Jose

It's a different muscular injury. I'm sure Jose just realises that Costa needs some rest and is playing it up a bit. I've noticed that he has been more static in his general play since the injury so there must be something to it.

Fully agree with you Syd.

I think I am right in saying that the national football associations can insist that their own medical staff make an assessment of a player's reported condition and can still call them up following their check, even against the advice of the club's medical staff. What should happen IMO is that if the player subsequently suffers further damage to the original injury, or a recurrence of it, the national association should have to compensate the club fully for the term of the injury.
