Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Not unusual for a player to under-perform in the latter stages of their first season in a new league. It's just made far more obvious because his early season form was so amazing. Doesn't help having a 3-match ban to disrupt his rhythm but he's just got to keep getting in those positions.

He needs to watch his temperament because he plays on the edge more than any player I've seen in a while and the frustration might push him over, but in terms of goals he'll come good again.

He's comfortably our best striker and the best way to get through a (mini) goal drought is to just keep playing him.

He's still contributing a lot when he plays so I'm not worried.

Diego Costa escapes punishment despite appearing to strike Aaron Cresswell during Premier League win over West Ham

I missed pretty much the whole of the first half last night because my laptop decided to update its software 5 minutes after kick off and then took 50 minutes to do so.

So I can't really comment on this as I didn't see it.

I've not seen any comments from anywhere else alluding to this incident, no questions asked to either manager and no mention of it in the few match reports I have read.

Is this just click baiting by the Daily Mail? Note sure I like this after the trial by media in the aftermath of the Liverpool League Cup semi-final.

Nothing in it at all, it wasn't even mentioned really. On the replay Costa was just using his body to get into a position nothing more.

If we slow donw and take snapshots of everything then bans would be handed out left right and centre.

This is the Daily Mail remember, they said Ivan bit the Everton player.

They have no shame

I found a copy of the Metro [fittingly] on the floor of a lecture theatre, it has the same photo, although even they didn't make an article out of it, just a caption.

Written by a talentless c**t called Anthony Hay who is your typical gloryhunting prick.

Supports Palace and United. Trying to make a name for himself at the Mail with crap like this.

The Daily Mail ruins their sport pages by allowing stuff like this onto their site, you get some decent articles by Ashton or Samuel but then you get click bait guff that just means you end up despising the site rather than looking forward to the decent articles.

The problem is that they need content and clickbait like that unfortunately helps pay for some of the decent stuff. Fortunately most supporters can see this for the sh*t it is.

Time for Chelsea to start handing out retrospective bans for reporters of papers who persist in writing absolute rubbish and inflamatory articles,

Prehaps see a different perspective angle from journalists then.

One can always live in hope.

Remy should get a chance.

Diego is shocking just now

He's getting almost no service.

Remy isn't anywhere near Costa's quality and hasn't put in one performance in a Chelsea shirt to suggest he should play ahead of Costa.

Costa has been very poor since his ban.

A deflected goal against spurs and that's it.

His touch, link up play has been rank.

It's hard to say about Remy as we hardly bloody see the guy, but aye write him off as you will.

What performance of Remy's this season has been of any note to think he should start over the striker who is set to be our first foward to score 20+ goals since something like 2008?

Maybe the ones when he scored the goals?

Are you honestly expecting a guy to be able to turn it on when given a cameo every few weeks or 10 minutes here and there?

This isn't FIFA by the way, players need games to get up to scratch and we have never given Remy that chance have we?

Yeah Costa was great at the start of the season but he's been awful for a few months now and isn't scoring goals, why not give someone else a chance? I mean clearly we are sticking with Costa to play him back into form which is a luxury Remy has never received here. He doesn't score in a game it's a travesty so Costa has to come back in but when he flatters to deceive its " just stick with him as he was scoring for fun earlier on".

We have a very good striker we are not using when our other one is in poor form, he's hardly going to do anything of note from the bench though is he?

Remy ruined his career moving here so far, lads never been given a decent chance.

That striker you're talking about.... He's not an option at the moment. He's been off he boil since just after Christmas which isn't surprising considering it's his first season in this league.

The guy looks jaded and frustrated.

IMO he has not had much if any support up front and he has barely been fed the ball in a decent scoring position now for several weeks forcing him to either go out wide and get the ball or come back and pick it up just like Torres used to do.   Jose' needs to find another way of creating opportunities for him instead of the same old, same old...if he hasn't got the ball in the box he can't score.

That's the thing with Costa, if he doesn't score goals he wont really give much else, his hold up play and general play besides scoring is rubbish. He's not a Drogba in that regard, he also messes up a lot of counter attacks.

He's not a fool though, he knows he needs a goal and I'll never fault his commitment, I'm confident that he can get himself back to scoring ways.

Pure goalscorer. Capable of some nice touches but not Drogba at his prime in that regard.

Butchered a break in extra time and just needs a proper rest.

That suspension is enough of a rest for me, he's just not been good enough in front of goal. Granted the team around him today and the play in general was pretty abysmal, as was his play. But the games like Burnley and West Ham I have no idea how he didn't score.

Also needs to cut the crap. That shove was moronic.

It's the frustration. Love the guy but I've never seen a player play so on the edge in every match.

He winds defenders up but he treads a very fine line.

Yeah.

He should have seen red tonight if we are honest.

This was a part of his game at Atletico though and we just have to accept this is his personality, I honestly can't see him changing it. It will no doubt cost us in some games but you take the good with the bad I suppose.

I don't buy into the "take away his aggression and he won't be as good." He can be aggressive when playing for the ball, but shoving a player unnecessarily when the ball is dead? Don't see how that helps his game to be honest.

I don't think it would either but judging by the man himself and his mangers both present and past it doesn't seem something that he is ever going to be able to do.

We can't complain now after we bought him knowing his history with aggression and bust ups with players.

I'd love for him to be able to control himself on the park but he seems to lash out at times when confronted and that's why opposition players do it to him in the hope he sees red.
