Liverpool v Chelsea (PL) 27/04/14 KO 14:05 BST

Featured Replies

you know liverpool are a threat when an arsenal fan is cheering on chelsea...

im not cheering on chelsea. don,t care who wins title when its not us. but just think city will win it in the end

he's a top class player in midfield, in defence he's found out of position constantly

still though he can be ok their.-- also he might play invovic in centre with cahill with cole and aka att full back if terry out . whatever team you play will be very strong one. your record in big games this year is the best in the league

when you say you im guessing you mean chelsea? I'm a liverpool fan, but i agree, all this talk of putting out a weak team is irrelevant, whoever is out it'll still be a damn good team

Sorry i forgot you were a liverpool fan. Well whatever team they put against you will very strong as they have one of best squards in whole league. They key is you got to defend well on the day as if they get in front it be nightmare for you as their sit deep and counter attack. a draw be good result for you as it keeps it in your hands.

so you don,t want to overattack to much as if chelsea get in front their be very hard to break down as athetico found last night and man city found out in feb and we found out in december

for me you should stick with same midfeild as sunday as important you don,t get overun as you were in game in december.

Think after the failure agains't Sunderland this is a pointless game.

Mourinho should play the kids, but he wont. Ake, MVG both deserve first team action.

Id still say it will be Azpi - Ivan - Cahill - Cole as the back 4

All the pressure is on Liverpool this time and I really don't rate their midfield. Even with all of our injuries I'm more positive we can get a good result as they leave so much space to exploit.

It's time to take out the bins ;)

yeah i kind of agree, attacking them constantly would be dangerous and let them counter which they have been very good at, having said that we're sh*te when we sit back, we can't abosorb pressure, our defence panics and plays stupid passes, we saw that against norwich, city and westham, we score one or two early on, sit back, then all hell breaks loose and I wonder how my body will take to having a pacemaker put in after all the stress

Despite what Jose said, we don't need to play 'kids' as in fielding youth and reserve players.

We can rest most players due to the ones we have that are suspended for the 2nd leg and cup tied, unless we decide that we don't want to risk a single injury or fatigue to any player that will make the team sheet for Atletico.

Ba/Torres (Whoever will be benched for the Atletico match)

Schurrle Salah (If Hazard is back for Atletico, he'll likely play the 90 over Schurrle, Salah cup-tied)
Mikel Matic Lampard (All suspended/cup-tied)

Cole Cahill Ake Kalas (can swap Cahill for Luiz or Ivanovic)

Schwarzer

I wouldn't be too surprised if this team can get a result from Liverpool.

This game now just feels like an inconvenience. Sounds like Jose feels the same way, wanting to pick a "weakened side" with the focus on the second game with Atletico.

Title will not be coming our way, the Sunderland game buried any remaining hope we had. We would not have been allowed a victory at Anfield anyways, no matter how well we played.

Though I fear the negative impact from being at Liverpools title celebration and the affect it has on our match in midweek.

Btw, sounds like Liverpool refused to transfer this game to Saturday to help our CL chances. There ladies and gentleman is the spirit of English pride for fellow sides in Europe. Let us not forget that.

you make some good points. if you sit too deep your asking for trouble as gary neville on monday night football pointed out how badly out of shape and too deep liverpool played vs norwich and man city when 2-0 .  your defence never seems to stick in a line which is what top defence does. you have on player pushing up, the other sitting too deep and it causes chaos.

so you need to find the right balance.  I think first goal massive on sunday . it be far more open game if you score first as they have to come more at you but if they score first it be very diffcult as their masters of leading the big games and then counter attacking.  huge game. draw be great result for you. defeat a nightmare and joy for city.

think you guys would move it if is was important for you guys as it is for liverpool?

Yes.

Imagine if we field our second-string team with some of our youngsters and still beat you at Anfield? The mentality damage from that would be immense.

Perhaps not. I understand why Liverpool did it. They need to do everything in their power to try and win the premier league.

It is up to the FA and the Premier League to step in and I think there should be new guidelines for semi finals.

Though the refusal does revel a lot about Liverpool and makes their 'holier than thou' tag that the media and certain section of the fans have even more nauseating. Liverpool FC- just as egotistical and self serving as Chelsea FC or the majority of other football clubs in Britain.

which if you win on sunday it be party of lliftime for you and city

Yes.

but you've got a really expensive squad, you could easily have fielded your second team in the league and finished in the top 4 without a problem, if we tried that we'd be f**king relegated by now

How much we've spent doesn't mean how good our players are, is Torres twice the player Suarez is?

We often pay premium to secure transfers, is Willian really worth 30 odd million?

You couldn't get Salah because you probably haggled too much whereas Chelsea paid the asking fee immediately.

Exactly sonic.

Now Liverpool are back in the Champions League they will have to pay premium. Everybody knows how much money they have now, so teams will squeeze every last penny out of them.

sorry expensive wasn't really what I meant, the overall point I was trying to make is that you've got a strong enough squad to field a strong team against us, so it wouldn't exactly be a massive upset to us, losing to palace, despite their great form, would be an upset.

think you guys would move it if is was important for you guys as it is for liverpool?

Maybe and maybe not, not sure.

Only thing I do know is Sunderland moved the match last weekend and that worked out pretty well for them...

Yes.

i think chesea second team would destory liverpool second team. squard chelsea have is far better. that why chelsea second team can win on sunday which would be heartbreak and title ender for liverpool and a maybe title clincher for city.

i think both your next two games are as hard as they come. to play mourinho and pulls teams is nightmare as their both so good defensivey.

Hmm for some reason because of what happened against Sunderland last week, this game now feels like a bit of an anticlimax, don't get me wrong playing against Liverpool is still a big match, but it doesn't feel as though there is much riding on it (for us) now...

Sky will try to hype this up to the max but i'm not feeling it at all, unlike our second leg against Athletico which is giving me butterflies just thinking of it.

Is anyone else starting to not care about this game? We have much bigger things to worry about, the likelyhood is that even if we win on sunday Liverpool will still win the league, if not still think city will go ahead of us after their game in hand. We messed it up last weekend and as long as we finish 3rd or higher the league means little to me now.

I'd rest as many players as we can and go there as defensive as we like. With matic Lampard and Mikel in the middle we can still go there and put up a good fight. Henderson out too we could control the midfield. I think people need to stop being so concerned about Liverpool winning the league and concentrate on our chance for a bigger and better trophy. As for Liverpool not wanting to move their game, does anyone actually blame them? Ridiculous. Is the fa's fault.
