May 17, 201412 yr A pretty good series, I've just finished watching the second and it's OK with the exception of their depiction of the Anglo-Saxons which is too Hollywood, an opposite to the old Alfred The Great film. By this I mean the English are depicted as too organised, the Northumbrians were shell type mailcoats all helmeted, some wearing ridiculous crested medieval helmets (in season 2) while the West Saxons wear studded armour again all with matching helmets. Historically there wasn't much difference between the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings in what they wore and weapons they fought with. The Anglo-Saxon royalty are living in old Roman buildings, hanging around in bathhouses for example Winchester is depicted as a monastery rather some other stone built town tiltled as the Kingdom of the West Saxons?? The two Anglo-Saxon kings Ecgbert & Aelle are supposedly contemporary while according to historical documents they died near on 30 years apart. Watchable, but anyone who studied archaeology or history will pull it to bits. Edited May 17, 201412 yr by Peckham Blue
May 23, 201412 yr I think it's a good show with good characters, I wish they would slow down though, one episode feels like a full season lmao, so much happens in each episode, you will know what I mean if you have watched the 2nd season. I also wish it would be a bit more brutal, maybe it's because GOT is so graphic. I just thought with it being Vikings you would see all the hack and slash and blood flying everywhere but I don't think there is enough of that, as far as the battles though they are still awesome and done very well.
July 12, 201412 yr It's a top class series, the longships that are used are owned by a historical re-enactment company in my local area, it is far better than Game of Thrones.
May 5, 201511 yr Far better than Game of Thrones?????????????????????? It must be mind-bogglingly fantastic then!
May 6, 201511 yr not sure if this is better than Spatacus or GOT, but Lagertha is freakin' smoking. If I was Ragnar Lodbrok, Aslaug would be kicking rocks. I was thinking you Brits would love this. Rollo is your Founder!!!
May 6, 201511 yr I watched the first 2 or 3 episodes of this and it was just so slowly paced and it was a bit of a slog watching it. I might go back to it at some point but for now there are other things I am watching.
March 7, 201610 yr The 4th season has started & so far it's brilliant - ok it might not be historically accurate but it's entertaining as hell
March 7, 201610 yr Looking forward to the 4th season. Incidentally I now work with a Swedish fella called Ragnar, I'm scared of him.
March 7, 201610 yr Looking forward to the 4th season. Incidentally I now work with a Swedish fella called Ragnar, I'm scared of him. I work in Ragnar or Travis Fimmel's home town here in Oz. Lucky enough to get to see him and say G'day, his eyes are so intense.

March 26, 201610 yr New series is excellent so far, and just as violent. after watching the last episode, I looked at the first episode & it was trippy to see how separate Ragnar, Rollo & Bjorn had become. The first episode made them so tight...Now? I won't give it away what happens next.
March 29, 201610 yr I'm up to episode 5. What you on?The one when The Vikings are moving up the Seine & Bjorn is screaming at Rollo.
January 2, 20179 yr 1 hour ago, dkw said: Well sh*t did not see that coming See what coming? Latest episode?
January 2, 20179 yr 1 minute ago, dkw said: Yeah, you seen it? Yeah. Absolutely loving this season. I've read bits about Ragnar Lothbrok online so sort of expected that to happen. Ivar the Boneless is going to be a quality lead character. He's one crazy motherf**ker.
January 2, 20179 yr Gonna be interesting now, I've read some Viking history too so sort of expected it but thought they wouldn't want to do that in this series.
