Apologies mods if there is already an extensive thread on this but I went back a couple of pages in the Rumours section and couldn't see one.

 

This name has been thrown about and linked with us for a couple of seasons now, and appears to have reared its head again, albeit in the f**king metro, with the Express claiming we are still interested.

 

More likely than not that this is more guess-work horse sh*t that we have become accustomed to every transfer window from tabloid hacks, but regardless.... what do people think of this guy? Scored a couple yesterday against Japan, and has 20 goals for Porto in 30 League games this season just gone.

 

I only watched 4 Porto games last season and he scored in each of them - looks like a decent option although my knowledge of his all round game is limited to these league performances I saw and one international game yesterday.

Think there was a thread on here before, the general feeling was he wasnt ready to be what we needed.

Can't say I've seen much of him and missed last nights games.

I would rather James Rodriguez out of the Colombians. He's an absolute jet.

 

And Costa would be a better option than Martinez in my opinion.

I have no opinion on this guy cause I don't recall ever seeing him play, what's everyone's thoughts?

From memory I think those who said they had watched him a fair bit said he was a fairly limited striker and his hefty buyout clause was way above what he is actually worth.

 

Can't say I've seen him play personally so hard to comment. 

 

So hard to judge strikers ability when they play for Porto or Benfica because they are so much better than everyone else in the division. 

He has a very good strike rate and netted two for columbia yesterday. 

You know I actually think he might be alright. You watch the way he took his second yesterday, dummied on the right and then finished on the left. That's very impressive. When you watch the clips he's quite a good header of the ball as well. 

 

Doesn't seem to offer much in the buildup though, which is very important, and in my view the reason we're not sold on Lukaku. Also he would be damned expensive.

Player instantly linked with big money move to Premiership club, Chelsea believed to be interested.

He has a very good strike rate and netted two for columbia yesterday. 

 

I think i heard them say in commentary that was his first goal for Colombia in like 16 months.

It might not even be as discerning as that... I think it might be as simple as 'striker scores goal at World Cup therefore Chelsea are interested'.

Rodriguez has been very impressive, I know he was highly rated but this has been my first look at him.

Columbia's coach gave him a chance to prove himself, and he did in a best way. If Chelsea won't success to buy a good stirker, then Martinez would be a good addition.
