Right. Once and for all can someone go through each of those names and say whether or not they count as HG/u21 etc and how it impacts our foreign player quota etc?

 

So many different and conflicting reports going around. Some saying we need to shift one player, some saying we need to shift 2 / 3 etc...

 

Cant be arsed to read up on it. If anyone has any input then it would be greatly appreciated.

Researched it. Seems we currently have 18 foreign players and therefore have to shift one more, even taking account of marin going out. No chance of buying a striker.

This is the U-21 rule

"U21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players/squad. For the 2014/15 campaign Under 21 players will have been born on or after 1st January 1993.â€

which means that Courtois, Salah and Vna Ginkel are not U-21.

Yep! We're still one over. At this rate I can see Salah going on loan with Moses taking his place.

But if we don't register Schwarzer then what was the point of extending his contract? It's absurd to have three foreign goalkeepers taking up places in the squad when we need two at most. Someone like Blackman could have been #3, or else bring back Turnbull!

Some poor, poor managerial decisions in this transfer window. Namely Lukaku being sold, the absolute lack of certainty or conviction around the goalkeeping situation, the insistence on playing torres and trying everything to make it work to the extent whereby you have him playing as a f**king winger, and bringing drogba back as the sole replacement of a guy who plundered double figure PL goals for Everton last season.

 

So odd.

I know without costa we are light on up front, but more concerning is we are midfield heavy and light at the back. I think Cech will be sold, van ginkel will be loaned to gain fitness after the bad injury and we will sign a defender. However, if such defender was verane who I believe would count as under 21, we could see another player added. I don't think we are finished yet in the market, just our hands are tied at the moment.

Mourinho says we have one too many. I'm sure we only have one too many. I really don't see what the point of him lying would be.

We are heavy in the midfield, Marin moving will leave 5 for the 2 pivot slots and 7 for the 3 AM slots (based on Fabregas double hatting) it's about right. At the back we are light but consistency is the key at the back and too many players would be hard to keep happy. We currently have plenty of depth

It's hard to see where we could add someone without pushing a first team player out. Why would we do that when Chelsea had by far the best defense in the league last year.

I am 100% sure Mikel is not homegrown. He was 19 when he joined us so was only playing in England for 2 years before he turned 21. Even on the Premier League website he isn't listed as homegrown.

I can't see us bringing anyone else in, which is annoying because i don't think Costa, Drogba ( old ), Torres ( finished ) is going to be enough. But if we do bring in a striker the only way that will happen is if Schwarzer is left out and one of Van Ginkel or Salah goes out on loan.

No one is going to argue that we need a back up to Costa. I don't know a single guy who would bet their house on Torres or Drogba to be able to carry a PL top four team never mind one with ambitions of winning.

We are looking at this without the full benefit of knowing every single aspect of the regulations and a team of legal execs to break down the wording and fit our players situation into the regs. If Mourinho says we are heavy by one non homegrown player then loans Marin and Romeu, I'm sure we'll meet the regulations.

Without question Mikel is NHG. Its how he was classified in the 2013 squad and that status can not change.

 

In respect of the CL Zouma will have to be left off the list or he will replace another NHG player, to qualify as U21 in the CL you have t have been at your club for 2 years

I very much doubt Cech is going anywhere, if he was then we wouldn't be playing him in the friendlies as much as we are.

Or the idea in playing him in all these friendlies is to show other clubs that he's still a top gk even after the shoulder injury so we can get a fair price for him?

Totally agree with all points above and shocking decision letting Lukaku go ... tipping point was Jose bringing a well past his best DD back ... heart ruled his head ...
