The Interview has been dropped for release

Unbelievable!

Ok the plot is about taking out Kim Kung Un, but is it any worse than Team America, where the same thing happens? Its a comedy with Seth Rogan for goodness sake.

No doubt its provocative, but I cannot believe the world has bowed to an email warning in broken English from North Korea, seems rather cowardly.

Sometimes it's not worth putting millions of lives at risk just to give a few people a laugh.  Lets be honest the man is nutter and has nukes at his disposal.  I bet you never poked the hardest kid at school with a stick did you?  Same thing but on a bigger scale to my mind.

They're still releasing it but have postponed the Christmas release date.

Has it not been cancelled completely I think that's what it says on BBC?

haha, No doubt he is a nutter, but its a dangerous precedent to be setting, this will give him an even more inflated sense of power.

“In light of the decision by the majority of our exhibitors not to show the film The Interview, we have decided not to move forward with the planned December 25 theatrical release. We respect and understand our partners’ decision and, of course, completely share their paramount interest in the safety of employees and theatergoers,†Sony Pictures said in a statement.

They're saying they aren't going ahead with the December 25th release date but it doesn't say that the release is completely cancelled.

They might put it in line with the European release date which is February 6th.

I would agree if it weren't for:

North Korea aren't going to start WW3 because of a fictional movie... I refuse to believe anyone is that stupid.

Think its not coming out at all bud ?

Yeah I would like to think they will have the nuts to release it at some stage, freedom of expression must not be quashed!

When it does get released it is bound to make a huge amount of money, all this publicity.

This is an interesting one. I wonder how the US would respond if something like this was made in a somewhat hostile country but pertaining to the assassination of Obama.

No doubt it would be heavily condemned, but in North Korea who knows what goes on, their movies are full of lies and propaganda, this is a pisstake making light of how ridiculous he is as a leader.

They make themselves an easy target, and rightly so.

In time there will be a revolt or else an invasion, he shouldnt be allowed to lock 250,000 of his own people in concentration camps, fire off missiles and act like Billy Big Bollock all the time. He's just a fat little worm who needs to be removed from the gene pool.

It's not being released at all.

"Sony Pictures has no further release plans for the film," according to a statement from the company. Sony also removed any mention of the movie from its website by Wednesday afternoon."

I'm surprised no-one has tried to assasinate him in real life. He's one of the worst people on the planet with what he's doing to "his people".

I definitely agree with you, but even if there was an attempted assassination or a failed coup, I can't imagine the North Korean press would be in any particular hurry to let everyone know about it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/northkorea/10740104/North-Korean-intelligence-official-tells-of-aborted-coups-and-assassination-attempts.html

One thing I loved about Castro and Chavez was their constant claims that the Americans were trying to kill them. Even when Chavez was dying of cancer, he still managed to point a finger at the US.

Why bother though ? It's not as if there is a moderate to take his place. North Korea will only ever be led by despots because they would never allow their people to realise just how bad their lives are. Anyone close to the leadership showing any inkling towards moderation is disposed of - like his Uncle.

It will never change without force and that will never happen because of the nuclear capability ( which, at present it very questionable but won't be for too much longer).

It certainly raises a question or two doesn't it? Could the hackers in NK have some serious dirt on Sony?

Quite possibly!

I read today that Sony's concern is about being sued. When there was a gun attack in a US Cinema showing a Batman film, Sony escaped being sued because the shooting was not predictable. Because violence has been threatened if this film is shown, if a person was killed or injured while viewing the film, as a result of North Korean actions, Sony could be liable for having ignored clear warnings. We know all about the size of damages sometimes awarded by US Courts.

I don't think they the hardest kid in the school , more the small mouthy one the big hard kids tolerate as he diverts attention away from what they are doing , anyone gives him a slap he would hide behind the big kids .....

....as Zola said I want to see the emails and pictures ..............bet they will be great fun

Sony should make a film about the film now, and make sure the north Koreans are shown as complete arses.

If/When they do finally release this film they'll make much more money than they would have if they had released it without a problem.
