Paulo Dybala - Palermo's #9, soon to be Chelsea's?

Featured Replies

Can that be the case if we've actually tabled a £28m bid though?

Apparently he doesn't have a release clause so an opening bid is just testing the waters to see if we are anywhere near to Palermo's valuation before deciding whether or not to continue negotiations.

His agent and Palermo chairman have basically namedropped every top club in europe claiming they want or have bid for him.

Does that make it untrue then?

Italian clubs generally are a lot more open about their transfer dealings.

My one worry would be players like Jovetic and Lamella looked class in Italy but have struggled to reach those heights in the Premier League, then you have guys like Cuadrado and Salah who both look pretty limited in England but in Italy they are/were performing at the top level.

Italy IMO isn’t what it once was and outside of Juve I can’t really say I’ve been overly impressed with any of them…maybe Napoli a few seasons ago when they had the likes of Lavezzi and Cavani.

I'd doubt they would name clubs if there was no truth in it.

No it doesn't but it makes it seem that there trying to get more money by naming lots of clubs.

I agree that club owners/chairman or whatever wouldn't name a club if there wasn't any truth, I haven't heard the Palermo owner say we are intrested.

Agents do it all the time

Tevez is leaving Juve at the end of the season isnt he?

Probably why they are linked, would he start ahead of their other stirkers?

I doubt it would take much to displace Giroud, he's pretty decent but lacks the killer instinct in games that matter.

Suppose if Tevez goes he would be the ideal replacement.

Morata seems to have done well but im not sure if Real still have a buyback clause on him. Not too sure on how Llorente has done

I'd be happy with this. Can play on the right aswell. Would be happy with costa, dybala and bamford next season. But I doubt mourinho will be willing to put to go with youth rather than experience in the back up striker role.

"A move abroad? I didn't speak Italian when I joined Palermo, but I think I have learned the language pretty quickly. I really like Italy. This is where I became famous and I would love to stay in Serie A," Dybala told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It would be a dream to play in the Champions League. There are also some big teams out there that do not participate in the Champions League, though. But I cannot deny that I would like to play in Europe's most important competition."

The forward then hinted that the presence of Andrea Pirlo at Juventus could play a big role in his decision about his future.

"It is so much easier for an attacker when you have a playmaker like Pirlo," Dybala added. "He even manages to make the hardest things look simple.

"We all saw his genius in the Champions League match against Monaco. It was his pass that eventually led to the penalty. Of course, Alvaro Morata also played a role in it, but it all started with Pirlo."

I am wary with signing anyone from seria a, even if there name is pogba.

A player who could not get a game for us is a top star there, a star player there cannot get in our team.

We should be careful using our new found sponsor money. Save it for the top of the tree players or guys like Zouma, a 12.5 Mill steal.

Some of the recent big money attacking signings from Serie A. You are right to be wary.

14/15

Juan Cuadrado €31,00 Mill.

Mario Balotelli €20,00 Mill.

13/14

Edinson Cavani €64,50 Mill.

Érik Lamela €30,00 Mill.

Stevan Jovetic €26,00 Mill.

12/13

Ezequiel Lavezzi €28,95 Mill.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic €21,00 Mill.

11/12

Javier Pastore €42,00 Mill.

Alexis Sánchez €26,00 Mill.

Even without considering that, I don't think it makes a lot of sense to spend that sort of money on someone who would be backup to Costa, when we have Remy and Bamford waiting, and other positions in our team that can be upgraded or where a lack of depth is clearly evident.

Yeah our midfield needs investment more. I doubt he will get it but I would rather see Bamford given a chance.

Costa - Bamford - remy - Drogba, in that order. Gives us depth next season.

Of more importance is to sign players who makes us less reliant on Hazard. If he was not in the side we may well not be top right now.

To be honest, i would rather Bamford if anyone; he knows the English game well and can play up front and RW, and he's capable of goal scoring and has brilliant positional sense; we would not have to spend any money and he's English - seems like the obvious bloody choice tbh.

Dybala isn't really an out an out striker tbh, he's more of a support striker or attacking midfielder

If we did sign him he would most likely play behind Costa

The future of the reported Chelsea target Paulo Dybala will be decided in the next two weeks, according to Palermo’s president Maurizio Zamparini.

Dybala is Palermo’s leading scorer with 13 Serie A goals and is thought to have attracted the attention of top European clubs including Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. Palermo are keen to cash in on the 21-year-old after the Argentinian forward turned down a three-year contract extension in January.

“At least three teams are really interested in him,” Zamparini told the Italian newspaper Giornale di Sicilia. “The apple is ripe and we are ready to pick it.

“I think in 10, or a maximum of 15 days we will know his future. We will meet with the player and his agent to complete the deal. Those who understand football realise his potential.”

"At least three teams are interested and one of them is Chelsea so if you want him, you better be prepared to pay"

I call bullsh*t. I think its a classic case of an agent trying to drum up interest
