Gutted, I think he would great in chelsea blue.

Was never going to be a Chelsea player. Too strongly linked to United even if they didn't have CL football.

One of the best attackers in European football. Ever since Pogba moved there it was a done deal really.

Be a disgrace if United don't win it next season when they will be throwing silly money at it with the huge squad they already have. Will make it even more enjoyable we have  they fail yet again

I can see them buying Antoine, JAmes, a DM (carrick replacement), an LB (Shaw replacement), couple of CBs (Jones and Smalling replacements). Would be fun if they dont actually win the PL

Yeah I see a similar splurge as to when Roman took over us. It will be huge fees nd several huge names. Difference being now there are 4 or 5 teams capable of winning it and all have better starting 11's over United so it's all or nothing for Jose next season.

He doesn't win it then it's 3 seasons in the EPL of failure which imo would end him.

Doubt that would end him. But I can't see him lasting beyond the 3rd season. It would be interesting to see how the squads of the top 6 look at 12:01am the day after deadline day.

At this level I think it would, he will take on international management and that will be his lot.

If he can't get United to titles and CL wins with a blank cheque book and a huge squad then he really doesn't have it anymore at this level. Everyone thought it was going to be Jose v Pep but in reality it was Jose v Mark Hughes and Co.

You forget he's only 54 years old, which is fairly young for a manager. He's still got 10-15 years of management in him. Why then would he go manage Portugal? Especially while Ronaldo, who's not a fan of Jose at the moment, is still playing and is the captain. I think he'll find himself at another club if it doesn't work out at United. Maybe PSG? Though Jose doesn't like how light Ligue 1 is judging by his past comments. I really can't tell but the fact is, he's still one of the best managers in the world and he's still going to be managing for a long, long time. 3 bad seasons won't change all he's accomplished. He might need a year away from football to get his sh*t together and try to adapt to today's football.

Sorry to derail the Griezmann topic but since you're discussing Mourinho, anyone who keeps playing that farce of a player that is Fellaini can't be considered one of the best managers any more

Strange signing for Utd and especially Mourinho. Mou always plays a lone striker and Griezmann is strongest when playing off someone else. Will be wasted on the wings and wasted up top for them.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Utd go with 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-2-1 next season (as Mourinho did at Inter). In that respect Griezmann may fit in perfectly for them?

Mourinho let loose with United's budget is effectively playing football manager. He has an absolute gimp in charge of the purse strings in Ed Woodward who will have problems in later years from having Mourinho's hand stuck up his arse controlling him like a puppet.

They broke the world record on Pogba with clearly very little plan on how to use him. No great surprise if this signing boils down to "that Griezmann fella is good, get him".

I honestly don't think he will, even with an unlimited budget. Either we are retaining it or Pep and Poch are getting their mits on it.

Not strange at all. Griezmann can play in the hole of a 4-2-3-1, which is Jose's favourite formation.

It is strange because it means you're spending £80m on a player and the result is that you're going to continue to misuse the guy you paid £100m for.

Griezmann in the hole means Pogba in a 2 where he is barely a £30m player never mind £100m.

Maybe he's planning to play him up top, idk.

That hole that Mkhi/Mata/Pogba all play in? Its just another square peg for a round hole for Utd.

Pogba isn't really a #10, is he? I think United will be 4-3-2-1 next season, Mourinho will sacrifice wingers and use the fullbacks for width;

                                              De Gea??
     Valencia - new CB to replace Smalling/Bailly - Rojo/new CB? - Darmian/Shaw?
                   Herrera - new CM (Bakayoko??)/Carrick - Pogba/Fellaini
                           Mkhitaryan/Lingaard - Griezmann/Mata
                                       Rashford/Martial

I think it would suit Griezmann well as he'd still be behind the striker. Not sure how the others would fair though, especially since I think Pogba would flourish under a 4-3-3 more than anything else and he's being misused in that 4-2-3-1. He's not a 10 and he's not a holding midfielder. They have a lot of parts that don't really fit perfectly and I'm not sure how Jose's going to make it work but we'll see.

Pogba has looked so much better since they've started to play Herrera and Fellaini next to him. As you say, 4-3-3 suits him to a tee.

Good managers always in demand, one with a record like his will always find work, we just win the europa league and by consequence brought back CL he is hardly doing disastrously

Maybe he goes to a 3-5-2 next season. Joins the Conte revolution.

Domestically he's been a shambles. He spent a near 200 million and delivered 6th place.

A lucky EL run playing poor sides doesn't change that. The football his team play is horrible, boring and in large unwatchable to the everyday punter. His tactics are a decade stale, his attitude and personality stink and he alienated and embarrasses players galore.

his next job will be international, no top side who want to win the CL and leagues of any note will go for someone who's clearly lost his magic touch. Those days of Madrod, Chelsea and soon United will be gone for Jose and it's his own stubborn fault.

Jose would slit his wrists and drink rat poison before switching his default formation to 3 at the back. I can only remember him doing it 2 or 3 times ever for a few minutes while chasing a game and it hardly bore fruit for him.

We shouldn't bother with offers, just match the buyout clause and go all out for this one. We need somebody close to Hazards level up there with him and I really think this lad is it
