On the hight thing... Verrati, Who most see an a top player (in addition to being a filthy c**t) is only 5“5 also only 22 though. Anyway I find that when shorter players make it there skill set tends to be pretty high. Most scouts are looking for big quick players. I realise in SA it's different but let's put it this way, at 5"7 this guy wasn't going to be anything unless he had a bit about him skill wise

Watched the youtube video (Welcome to Chelsea)

The first 2 minutes were him running about like a headless chicken lunging into tackles….it did improve after that though with some nice assists and finishes.

the bold alexis sanchez is just over 5'5. Admittedly play in totally different positions, but if he is playing in the middle alongside matic, then he is playing in the middle alongside matic. Nuff said. Matic is a f**king monster.

Cesc is only 5'7 and the height thing isnt an issue when he's playing centrally.

only concern i have is one that is shared among others on here - that he is 26 and hasnt played outside south america. if he is a squad filler then so be it. Few papers quoting £8m, which isnt quite as horrendous as the initial rumours of £16m

Am I the only one who from the showing (admittedly very small showing) I have seen of Aranguiz think he looks a little wild and reckless in tackles. I think unless he curbed that could be the Chilean Lee Cattermole....

I'd very much like to see him come in. Experienced player with something about him. Better than Ramires & Mikel in that role too. Although I wouldn't want to see RLC's progression stumped by it.

A Tiny midfielder who couldn't cleanly win a tackle if his life depended on it.

I guess we're hoping he develops into Paul Scholes.

Experience...where in the Brazil league...vs Ramires a champions league winner with 5 seasons in the epl...don't mean to troll you but literally everything you say is so off the boil it's painful

307 club games, 55 international games. Winning the copa america. Plus what I should have said was more experience of that role.

How is everything I say off the boil?

307 games....in Brazil, enough said

Does 307 games (plus 50+ international) make a player experienced or not? Yes or no? Just a yes or a no required please.

There is no yes or no to an ambiguous question, I have 307 Sunday league games would you sign me? Experience is g the number of games alone it's the number of high profile games at the top level..youth team players have hundreds of youth games. Is he experienced at turning up to a pitch and kicking a ball for 90 minutes, yes absolutely, but so am I, is he experienced in top flight football..no he isn't bar some of his international

It makes him experienced at South American football.

Oscar & Ramires had far far less experience than Aranguiz. Granted they were slightly younger but he's not exactly ancient is he.

He shone more than most, barring Vargas and Vidal at the Copa America - in fact he has done that for a while for Chile.

I'm not saying he would set the world alight, but I'd much prefer him to Mikel or Ramires (I prefer Ramires a little more advanced).

362 games of professional football is experience, you telling me Pele was never experienced because he spent his career in Brazil? (Extreme case, granted).

Add to that the Copa America title plus the fact he wouldn't be all that expensive - I see it as a shrewd signing.

Paulinho looked brilliant at the last Copa America. Had a lot of experience in the Brazilian league and was considered a top player there. Look how he turned out.

Not saying this guy will be the same but you just don't know. If it's for something cheap like 8m, then I suppose it's worth the gamble because that's what it is.

For that price as a squad player why not, I'm not against his purchase I'm against calling him an experienced Player because he clearly isn't experienced in the top flight

The problem with this analogy is that when Pele played most of the players didn't move to Europe and so the Brazilian league was strong. These days the league is littered with 'has been' and players who simply aren't good enough to make the transition to Europe.

Will Aranguiz be any good? Who can honestly tell, playing well though in an international tournament is not always a good guide. Personally I'd prefer a tried and tested Ramires.

I don't even consider this shrewd, given that were paying 12mil for him.
