By the way, how classy were we when we clapped Mata off...what a contrast to the losers in north London and how they treat a player they rejected to re-sign, yet bizarrely blame him for doing so

I guess he comes back to us when José arrives at Trafford!?

I thought we played well and deserved to win, only DDG and a few amazing stops stood in our way.

For me its pretty easy to see that we are playing a million times better now under Guus than we were under Mou and are looking like a team again. Onwards and upwards and never look back.

I thought overall it was a good performance by the team. If it wasn't for a few world class saves from De Gea we could've took the three points yesterday. I'd like to see Hazard play a full 90 soon and the two Serbs need to be dropped for a bit. Watching players run past Ivanovic like he isn't even there is painful, never mind Matic's none existent first touch.

We're simply not that good as time has proven. Yes, Jose made some mistakes in the final months of his managerial tenure but the players deserve more criticism than they've received from supporters for a lack of effort and passion in their performances.

Guus' objective was to get the team firing again when realistically he was merely installed to steady the ship and to calm things down after a hectic few months.

I like Guus and he's in a difficult position but he can only do so much with these players where the majority of them are pea-hearts and are spoilt brats who aren't willing to put in the hard yards to better themselves as players.

Results have improved slightly meaning we're not losing as much now but the performances are not that much different from what I saw under Jose this season.

Sacking Jose was merely a panic move by the club who genuinely believed that the club was deteriorating at a rapid rate, but still held out a glimmer of hope of finishing in the top 4 when in reality this was delusional back in December.

We would have honestly been better off to finish 10th or 13th, or where ever we finish at the end of the season and stuck with Jose and provided him the financial backing to buy the right players to overhaul the squad during the summer thus cementing ourselves as a stable force and dictating to the players that the manager was truly the boss but we failed on these fronts.

Now we're back to square one where the board needs to find a new manager (good luck to the next guy who will be working under the extreme conditions that the club places on a manager), and I can see a large squad overhaul in the summer.

I can't blame supporters for being somewhat hostile in the stands considering what's transpired behind the scenes with the club recently and considering they pay money to support the club they have every right to voice their anger and concerns about what the club is doing behind the scenes.

Agree with every word of this. The board had a chance to back Jose in the summer and they could've stuck with him and backed him in January. Maybe the argument is that he lost the dressing room but how many of those guys will actually be here come the start of next season?

Instead we have to start from scratch this summer with a new coach with new ideas having lost two of the guys the supporters hold dearest in their hearts. They aren't outwardly hostile yet but they're demoralised and fed-up in my opinion.

I think you can put people on 'ignore' so you do not see their posts. Look around the preferences, maybe you'll find it. Never used it though!

Thanks bro, but am yet to find that IGNORE button

Click on your profile, column on right, third down 'manage ignore preferences'.

Wow, thank you very much bro. I got it this time. Bye to Ernie blue and his negativity.

Still doesn't appear to be a MOTM thread for the Utd game?

Only a few candidates for me. Courtois, JT, Zouma and Mikel. All did well but I'll give it to Mikel as I'm in a good mood today.

This can't be coming from Nibs, there must be a mix up somewhere!

Credit where credit's due. See, I can give praise when it's warranted!!

Costa surely deserves a mention. Never say die attitude that paid off.

I was, I believe legitimately, very negative about Costa earlier on. Now it's clear to me that he responds to positive reinforcement and constructively presented criticism rather than yelling and negative reinforcement. He's willing to move mountains for people who provide that arm around the shoulder.

Guus's ability to revive Costa is massively impressive.

Well sunderland beat United today. All the more making our last gasp draw against United look a poorer result.

I think that's a bit harsh. Sunderland won due to a de Gea own goal. If de Gea had played like he did against us, they wouldn't have won. And I don't think it was "last gasp". I felt the players got into the game much earlier.
