Those prices are totally whack. Yeah, if we have a yard sale and accept the first price offered...

Interesting thoughts Orpington. Cahill and Willian out and Moses back. What is your rationale behind the squad?

 

We are likely to play a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-4 system. Willian does not have the offensive output for either of those formations. Pedro and Hazard should be our first choice wingers in a fit team.

 

Between willian and Moses, Willian can be sold for more money to fund the purchases. The gap between willian and moses sitting on the bench should not be that much.

 

Plus moses is Assoc. trained.

Felipe Luis, Demba Ba. Likely Cuadrado as well sold for loss.

 

Cahill is 30+ now, his value will go down rather than up.

 

Those should be the prices we should expect if the players are sold elsewhere in england/europe. If the Chinese come in for someone we might get more but not every day is a Sunday.

Thats an interesring dynamic because depending on how many academy players we include, Abraham, JCS, Tomori, Colkett and even RLC I think, Conte could potentially include more non-homegrown players. Im not positive but all of those players wouldnt count against the squad numbers because they are U-21

our squad is easily capable of making top 3/4. those players we have, on their day and motivated, are mostly world class players and they just need to show it. last season was f**king abysmal for all concerned, but with a new coach to revitalise the team i believe we'll be right back up there. we will need hazard on form though, he makes a massive difference. i would bring back a couple loan players and a 2/3 shrewd buys and we're set.

Its not an english quota its actually a restriction on 17 forigen players. We can easily buy 4-5 forigen players and still meet the restriction.

Which is what we have done previously just worked with smaller squads than 25. Will be interesting as TCB says above as to whether our next English core is made up of our own youth players. Although that said some of our best Ake, Christiansen etc aren't English.

Ake, Christensen, Boga and Musonda do still count as Home Grown and Club trained.

 

Also noteworthy is that the likes of Zouma, Kenedy, Baba and Miasga dont count towards the forigen limit as they are 21 or younger on 1st-July-2016.

If we could convince him, we could get Vardy for cheaper. Although I think we need to find a different type of player altogether. someone a bit more technical and able to link up to our attacking mids more effectively

I didn't realise that, in that case no then, I thought he would have been attainable at £10-15m given his age, which in that case he would have been worth a punt.

He doesn't score much but he has a really good all round game and is a very clever player, he would suit us more than Vardy would in my opinion, Jamie will be clueless vs teams that sit deep.

Strongly disagree. He's shown on a number of occasions he can easily dribble past players. Also, what 19 year old has great decision making? Can't judge a player on that at this age. Willian is 26 and has abysmal decision making in the final third.

You can have a good idea on what level they will be at, like for example, Eden Hazard was quite clearly a top player in the making whereas say Aaron Lennon for example wasn't.

I see Charley Musonda and think potential world class, on the wing I don't feel that for Kenedy, at left back I feel he can be, his best displays for us have come in that position and he won't be as tightly marked going forward, meaning his not so great touch and awkward desicion making won't be as big an issue.

If he can brush up on defending (which isn't that bad) I reckon he can be a revelation at left back.

Since we have already made a couple of purchases, what are we all now hoping for by the end of the window?

I think we are heading towards a 424/442 with the amount of strikers we seem to be getting linked with.

We have been linked with loads of centre backs, I think bonucci is out of reach but I'll be happy with one of koulibaly/manolas/mustafi.

Left back is still a problem for me, baba just doesn't convince me, and doubt Kenedy will play there regularly, I would go for Rodriguez, even if he would be expensive. We haven't been linked with a left back so far apart from maybe asamoah, so maybe conte has more faith than I do in the current options.

We have been linked with loads of strikers this summer, and having already spent big on batshuayi, I don't think we will go for higuain/lukaku/morata, and I would be happy if we ended with gabriel who is more of a link up striker.

In terms of outgoings, I would sell Mikel, remy, and Cuadrado, however it looks like the latter is going to be staying. I can actually see one of Matic or oscar being sold instead of Mikel though, and the usually loanees like moses and van ginkel will be out somewhere.

Good start to the window, just need 3 more signings before I'm convinced we can have a real shot at the title.
