June 14, 20168 yr At this point I'm guessing that he's swinging wildly - I certainly wouldn't take this at face value.
June 14, 20168 yr When we drew barca two years running it felt a bit convenient Yup and when we got Liverpool in our group in 2006 and they kept speculating we might even though there were 2 other English teams they could have been drawn with. But hey what happened eh?!
June 14, 20168 yr One day it will come out about Ovbero as well. Didn't someone influential say the day before that game that they didn't want the same 2 English teams re-playing last year's final?
June 14, 20168 yr Didn't someone influential say the day before that game that they didn't want the same 2 English teams re-playing last year's final? Even if they didn't it's pretty clear that match-up wouldn't have been in thier best interest
June 15, 20168 yr This is real, 100%. I just looked back at draws and would appreciate if any of you that are active on social media spread this fact if it isn't already out there. I think it is clear to all that in the past few years Barcelona, Madrid and Bayern have established themselves as the dominant tri-force in European football. In the past 7 seasons of Champions League football, this is their appearance record in the quarter finals (the first "open-draw") stage... 15-16- all 3 14-15- all 3 13-14- all 3 12-13- all 3 11-12- all 3 10-11 - 2 (bayern knocked out by Inter in R16) 09-10- 2 (madrid knocked out by Lyon in R16) Number of times they've been drawn to face each other in quarter finals in those 7 seasons : ZERO Edited June 15, 20168 yr by startedwithglenn
June 15, 20168 yr To be fair that might have something to do with the fact that they've been the three best teams in Europe during that period. In the five Champions Leagues between 2005 and 2009 us and Liverpool both got to the semi-finals four times.

In the five Champions Leagues between 2005 and 2009 us and Liverpool both got to the semi-finals four times. Clearly they're the best teams but that has no impact on whether they draw each other or not. I believe they have been debilerately kept apart in the draws to ensure as many of the 3 have been in the semi's as possibly year after year. They are the biggest draw and bring the $$$ in. UEFA have IMO effectively enforced a seeding system much like tennis, they've just done it without people knowing.
