So if we beat Boro, they are relegated I think?

Definitely. As the table stands, they need at lest 7 points from the last 3 games to even have a shot. Since Swansea and Hull will get more points though, they need all 9 points in practice and even then it will probably not be enough.

Not mathematically but there goal difference is worse than Hull's so pretty much.

Yes. They have 28 points right now. If we beat them they will still have 28 points with 2 games to go. Thus, the maximum points they can achieve under this assumption are 34 points. Swansea currently have 35 points...

Hull are on 34 pts, Boro would need to win 2 games probably by good goal margins, hope Hull lose both of there's heavily to have any chance.

But Hull are in the relegation zone. Right now, 35 points is the bare minimum in order to escape the relegation zone because of Swansea's win tonight.

I know I just edited my post haha, was totally ignoring than Hull were 18th

Middlesborogh are all but gone I think.

even if they win there remaining 3 games it would give them a maximum points total of 37points. They would have to hope that both Swansea or even hull drop points in their next 2 games to have any chance.

If Swansea win their next game boro are gone

Didn't several members of our forum predict a comfortable win against Crystal Palace a few weeks ago....?

They're not from a forum, they're published on a Spuds site as 'expert predictions'.

Thanks. It's good to be back mate.

A bad sense of timing given last night's result :-)

it's been an amazing season, good to have you back amongst us to chew over it all.

It's typical of you though Spud - any other Spurs fan would've been on here giving it large during your good spell to (at least politely) suggest you were going to overtake us.  But no, you wait until you slip up and then tiptoe back in as though the season had been perfectly non eventful (is that a word?)

:-) I genuinely didn't think we would BQ; it was in the category of possible but not likely. There's been a lot of hype about us. We are deffo much better than in previous seasons but we've nothing concrete to show for it, money aside (which is sort of only of interest to our bank :-))

If the roles had been reversed, neither would I.  But neither was I confident in our position (though I am positively optimistic compared to @Gem  who literally must be the most pessimistic fan I have ever known!).   I couldn't understand how many people thought the title was ours so early on - not only fans but pundits and journalists.  You only have to look at Liverpool's post-January run to see how easy it is to slip down the table.  Favourites, yes.  But almost-certain champions, no.  Even now, I won't breathe easy until it's certain.

And fair play to Spuds, if they hadn't had such a good run, we'd have walked it!

I agree; you're right to be cautious.  Looking at this season, a lot of what has happened (Man City, Liverpool) shows that the sport is very unpredictable, which is good.  The pundits were right about CFC and, being honest, I thought Conte would need more than one season to sort things out, so my prediction there was awful.  The CFC (likely) win is much deserved and Conte seems to have a happy squad, which is a good setup for your next season.

Haha indeed! But alas, my negativity comes from my absolute belief in jinxing things and karma. If I'm negative then nothing can come back to haunt us and I haven't jinxed anything. It's all hocus pocus I'm sure but I can't stop it. Liverpool got major karma in 2014 after all their jinxing and arrogance.

I am amazed at how well Conte has done - at the beginning of the season I was only hoping for top four.  My mate @NoSeatingInTheShedInMyDay said she thought we'd win the league and I thought she was deluded!

I really thought it'd be between City and Manure - with Manure the favourites.  Glad I was so wrong.  I thought it was going to be difficult for me to see Jose win the league with them.  Actually it would have been hell. But now I am SO over him.

And yes, I love Conte.  I didn't know very much about him before but he is everything we want and need!  Though, if I'm honest, Jose Mark I still has the fanciability factor.  But other than that Conte is perfect!

I 100% believe that tempting fate leads to bad things.

Funny you mention JM; is there a general view about him, from CFC fans?  I'm still a big fan of Jose, tbh...

I think the general view is that he is a twat.  But we still respect him for what he did for us.  But are disappointed at his digs and lack of respect for us fans and brown-nosing Manure at every opportunity.  Just all like a bad divorce really.

That's a clear appraisal!

I admire him in a footballing sense but he is going OTT on the 'history/size' of United thing.  He's very, very focused and he's made a calculation it seems that he needs to abandon all nuance about past clubs and explicitly be the Utd Manager.

A mate of mine who supports Arsenal said to me before the season started that we'd win the league. I didn't believe him at all, infact I laughed and said I'd be happy if we were top 4. I thought a cup would be nice too. Well the team have surpassed my expectations it's fair to say.

I totally thought it would be City and United with Arsenal third and that we'd be battling Liverpool and Spurs for that 4th spot.

I thought Arsenal would have a bad season (by their lights); they are in a deep rut and nothing will change while Wenger is there. It shows how easy it is to get into a run of being there or thereabouts but not winning things and it's something we'll need to watch out for.

City/Guardiola not winning anything has been a real pleasure (with apologies to @Kinkladze)

Yeah.  He's a prat.  Everyone knows his history with us; it seems so callous to deny it.  He just seems to be so angsty.  I like Mk I jokey Jose, we haven't seen that for a few years.  But it has helped draw the line.  And I can cope with any success he has now with them better than had it been this year.

Funny that an Arsenal fan could think that whereas we were only thinking top four!
