This morning its being reported we've turned our heads to Maksimovic.

24y/o Serbian CB that currently plays for Torino. David Amoyal on twitter has stated that he is a great defender and likened him to a younger Bonucci. Many people in Serbia believe him to be the heir to Vidic.

Can't say i've seen much of him but here's what i found on the old Youtube:

Looks like he has an eye for a tackle and looks confident on the ball.

Saw him a few times last year, Torino had a fairly good CB pairing last year and they just sold the other half of IT in Gliek (speiling?) Would rather get him then some of the other targets we have been Linked to

"Sell us koulibaly"

"No"

right, who are Napoli after....

I have mixed feelings about Koulibaly because of the prospect of eventually having Christensen and Zouma available. Perhaps Maksimovic at a lesser price is a smarter decision. Then take the rest of the 50GBP and get Ricardo Rodriguez. :stirthepot: .

It’s reported Nikola Maksimovic has flown to Serbia in order to avoid Torino training and push through a Napoli transfer.

The defender was all set to start Saturday’s Coppa Italia tie against Pro Vercelli, but didn’t turn up to training on Friday afternoon.

He was nowhere to be seen today either and La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Maksimovic has flown home to Serbia without permission from his club.

Toro have requested €25m for the centre-back and Napoli seem prepared to meet the price.

It remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old’s actions will help or hinder his chances of playing for the Partenopei.

Many suggesting that if Maksimovic signs with Napoli, this will pave way for us to sign Koulibaly.

"The transfer market isn't closed yet. It's not just Napoli who want Maksimovic, but also a big club from [the Premier League]."

Gianluca Petrachi, Torino director; source: Mediaset via Football Italia

Don't know much about him tbh.

Interesting. Thanks for posting though they were written before United signed Bailly so presumably aren't interested in him anymore.

Seeing as how Napoli are refusing to sell Koulibaly we might as well put in a bid for Maksimovic as he looks like a decent option.

torino want to sell maksimovic abroad and we have the money to bid more than 21mil from napoli

if we're serious about him it should be an easy negotiation

The next hours will be decisive to close the deal & bring #Maksimovic to #Napoli. #Mangala deal not done yet. (@valterdemaggio)

#ManCity defender Eliaquim #Mangala has accepted a loan deal to move to #Napoli. He will earn €3.5m for the year. (@RafAuriemma) #MCFC

#Napoli are now in pole to sign Martin Caceres as a free agent http://www.football-italia.net/90229/napoli-contract-offer-caceres

so that's 3 central defenders napoli are looking at with mangala and caceres the closest to signing with the fee still being an issue for them to sign maksimovic. interesting to see how the next few days pan out in this saga.

Torino claimed the Serbia international — who has been compared to countryman Nemanja Vidic — was not for sale but Chelsea have made it clear they are ready to offer more than the £21.5million proposed by Napoli.

So Maksimovic goes to Napoli for loan of 5MM EUR with 20MM EUR mandatory buy at end of year. That is 21MM GBP. IDK, but this could come back to haunt Chelsea.
