Jamie Vardy

Featured Replies

If Conte wants to go with a formation of 3-5-2 I thin Vardy would be the perfect foil for Morata, he thrived when he played with Tevez at Juventus  & someone with a similar workrate would really benefit him.

As well as having Vardy, Morata up top Hazard could play a Central role ahead of Bakayako & Kante which would probably be quite a formidable front line with the Wingbacks providing the width.

Not really a fan of Vardy think he is all pace and little substance granted he did manage to hit a purple patch in Leicesters winning run.

A little stat that was floating around the other day. Goals against top 6 since Vardy starting playing in the prem:

Vardy 17 in 34
Lukaku 5 in 35

Vardy continues to improve every season even at his age, presumably because he came into top level football so late. He has done the learning later on, that the lads sat in academies do in their early years. His touch and build up play has moved exponentially since our first season up.

Anyway, unless he has a buy out clause it's just not going to happen because he's our most important player. It would have to be one of the most ridiculous offers ever to even get on the Chairman's desk.

Oh and he's in all the training videos for the Man U game from this morning. So anyone suggesting this is almost done and dusted is just making it up.

Money shouldn't be an issue.

Bargain bin dipping is what relegated Arsenal to a second rate club.

Costa going out frees up wages and would go some way to financing a move for a class center forward.

Vardy works well as an option but lumping balls over the top is a specific situation. Cesc providing those could be interesting, though.

Lumping balls over the top is an important option to have, especially when we face teams that can dominate us in the middle.

I'm not against getting Vardy provided he doesn't expect a guaranteed starting spot and the fee is reasonable. He is an absolute menace on the counter. And him being homegrown is a bonus.

One thing i have noticed is how Vardy seems to produce in the big games. He scored in both CL knockout ties and if i'm not mistaken has a pretty strong scoring record vs every big PL team aside from us?

Not the glamour signing many would like, sometimes teams need a player like Vardy prepared to graft. He's a menace to defenders, gives them no rest and can punish teams who try to press high and leave space. His movement too would leave space for the likes of Hazard to exploit. Really can't see him coming here, the fee likely would be too high for a player of his age and to be honest Leicester would be adverse to seeing leave.

To get in the number of players rumoured, we will have to go gung ho and sign at the ratio of 1 player every 2 days.  Struggle to see it.

Would you rather Arsenal's situation or ours?

Sometimes you need to pay over the odds to get the man you need.

Now whether that man is Vardy or not is up to Conte and the club, but I'd rather we try and get our number one targets than compromise and get an average player in to make up the numbers.

Thanks for your insight. It’s a great strategic move to “spend more money”.

I’m buying a house at the moment. I’d much rather buy a place with an underground swimming pool, on site gym etc than the 2 bed place I’m actually getting. But you know what....I don’t have the money!

We are trying to be a financially stable club.

Additionally, Arsenal have actually spent more money than us over the past 5 years. Their problems are down to their manager not buying the right players, not with them not spending enough.

He's the sort of player you adore when he's your own and detest when he's not. That's usually a sign of a decent player as well. There is good reason Arsenal wanted him, your manager fancies him, Diego Simeone raved about him and Mourinho has sought him out personally to give him praise . He's never going to be silky smooth, but he just adds something a bit different. He's dismantled United, Liverpool, City single-handedly previously and got a brace against Arsenal several times.

I know I've been on here bigging up him, Mahrez, Drinkwater and Kante last year. But really outside of those four (and now N'Didi & Maguire) I wouldn't do it about our other players. They were the ones who always had something extra about them, another level up.

I think he'd be lost in our system. We all know what he could do with his style of player, but I doubt Conte would change his style for Vardy, and he will struggle when he doesn't the early ball in space.

But would you expect your house to win home of the year or challenge for other major honors if you got budget drapes and no extra features though? Why not just build a shed if financial stability is all that matters.

Chucking 40 million at a player that isn't the right player is hardly a cheap option, it has to be the right player, which at least we agree on and has been my point all along.

I'm not convinced Vardy is the right player is all I'm saying.

Then your argument should be how we should spend our 40million better, not "other clubs spend more, we spend more".

If we don't have the money, we dont have the money. End of. No I wouldnt expect my house to challenge for major honours - I dont expect Chelsea to win the league - City + United should walk it. If we come third then great.
